Amul fresh milk price revised

FoodTechBiz Desk

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets other milk and milk products under the brand name Amul, has increased the prices of fresh pouch milk by approximately Rs 2 per liter in all markets across the country, effective 3 June 2024.

The Rs 2 per liter increase translates to a 3-4% increase in MRP, much lower than average food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since February 2023, Amul has not increased the prices of Fresh Pouch milk in significant markets.

This price hike is due to the increase in operation and milk production costs. Our member unions have also increased farmers' prices by approximately 6-8% over the last year.

Amul, as a policy, ensures that almost 80 paise of every rupee consumers pay for milk and milk products, which goes directly to the milk producers. This price revision is a testament to its commitment to sustaining remunerative milk prices for its milk producers and encouraging them to increase their milk production.
