FoodTechBiz Desk

Amul Dairy marked a historic milestone with the grand inauguration of Amul AI, a transformative digital initiative designed to redefine the future of the cooperative dairy ecosystem through the power of Artificial Intelligence.

The platform was inaugurated by Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, who described Amul AI as a significant step toward modernising agriculture, animal husbandry and the dairy sector. He noted that the initiative reflects India’s accelerating journey of technological advancement and self-reliance under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Hon’ble Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and Chairman, Banas Dairy; Shri Jitubhai Vaghani, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare; Shri Ramanbhai Solanki, Hon’ble Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs; Shri Kamleshbhai Patel, Hon’ble Minister of Finance; Shri Miteshbhai Patel, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Anand); and Shri M. K. Das, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat. The event was also attended by the Board of Directors of Amul (GCMMF), Amul Dairy, sister milk unions, MLAs, Managing Directors of milk unions, and other distinguished dignitaries.

Organised in Anand, the karmabhoomi of Tribhuvandas Patel and Dr. Verghese Kurien, the programme witnessed the presence of a large gathering of dairy farmers, particularly women members who form the backbone of the cooperative movement.

In his address, the Hon’ble Chief Minister highlighted India’s digital transformation journey—from UPI to AI—and its empowering impact across sectors. He emphasised that the convergence of Government, Cooperatives (Sahkar) and Technology is accelerating inclusive development, and initiatives like Amul AI will further strengthen the dairy ecosystem. He also underscored policy measures supporting milk producers, including provisions in the Union Budget to expand veterinary capacity and safeguard the interests of crores of small and marginal farmers.

Representing 36 lakh milk producers across more than 18,500 villages, Amul continues to integrate cutting-edge technology with its robust cooperative framework. Amul AI leverages data and intelligent systems to enhance transparency, operational efficiency and real-time decision-making, enabling a smarter and more responsive value chain—from farmers to federation. The organisation also acknowledged the contribution of Shri Shankar and the team at EkStep Foundation, who partnered in developing the Amul AI application.

With the launch of Amul AI, the cooperative takes a decisive step toward blending the legacy of the White Revolution with the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence—reinforcing its commitment to farmer prosperity, digital empowerment and the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
