APEDA facilitates export of 7,000 MT fortified rice kernels to Madagascar

FoodTechBiz Desk

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has successfully facilitated the export of 7,000 metric tonnes (MT) of Fortified Rice Kernels (FRK) to Madagascar, reinforcing India’s growing leadership in delivering science-based and cost-effective nutrition solutions to global markets.

The consignment marks a significant milestone in advancing India’s value-added agricultural exports while contributing meaningfully to global food security initiatives. Fortified Rice Kernels, enriched with essential micronutrients such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, play a vital role in addressing malnutrition and improving public health outcomes, particularly in vulnerable populations.

APEDA’s facilitation underscores India’s commitment to supporting partner countries with high-quality, affordable, and nutritionally enhanced food products. By promoting fortified staples in international markets, India continues to strengthen its position as a reliable supplier of innovative agri-food solutions.

This export initiative aligns with the broader objective of enhancing value addition in agri-exports while supporting global efforts to combat hidden hunger and micronutrient deficiencies.
