APEDA flags off first export of organic tea from India to Taiwan under MRA

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) proudly flagged off the first-ever export of organic tea from India to Taiwan under the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).

A consignment of 342 kgs of organic tea, produced and dispatched by Jalinga Tea Co. (India) Pvt. Ltd., West Bengal, certified under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), was ceremonially dispatched, marking a historic milestone for India’s organic exports.

The flag-off ceremony was graced by Smt. Kesang Y. Sherpa, Joint Secretary, EP-Agri, Department of Commerce, and Ms. Estela Chen, Executive Director, Economic Division, TECC, along with senior officials from APEDA, Tea Board of India, and Lacon Quality Certification Pvt. Ltd.

This landmark initiative underscores India’s commitment to strengthening its organic export footprint and expanding agri-trade relations with Taiwan, opening new opportunities for Indian farmers and exporters in the global organic market.
