In a significant milestone for India’s agricultural exports and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever export of ODOP honey from Baksa district of Assam to the United States.

The export consignment, flagged off on May 9, 2026, comprises nearly 20 metric tonnes of premium-quality honey exported by APEDA-registered exporter Salt Range Foods Pvt. Ltd. The initiative marks a major step toward empowering local farmers, promoting products from Aspirational Districts, and strengthening India’s position in the global agri-export market.

Sourced from the eco-friendly and pesticide-free environments of Baksa district, the honey is widely recognized for its superior quality and near-organic characteristics. The product reflects the rich biodiversity and sustainable agricultural practices of the region.

The honey was processed and packed in Guwahati, Assam, before being shipped to the United States, highlighting the increasing international demand and recognition for high-quality Indian honey.

APEDA continues to play a pivotal role in promoting India’s agricultural and processed food exports by supporting exporters, enhancing market access, and enabling global outreach for unique regional products under the ODOP initiative.

This export achievement is expected to create new opportunities for beekeepers, farmers, and entrepreneurs in Assam while contributing to rural economic growth and sustainable livelihoods.
