Deoleo, the world's leading olive oil producer and maker of brands such as Bertolli, announced the release of its 2024 Sustainability Report, reinforcing its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) excellence across the global olive oil sector.

Deoleo is the first company in the olive oil industry to publish a report aligned with the European Union's new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) standards, well ahead of their enforcement deadline.

Among the company's key achievements:

  • 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions over two years

  • 94% of factory waste repurposed or valorized

  • 12% increase in sustainably sourced extra virgin olive oil

  • 100% of copackers and suppliers assessed for ESG performance

  • Water use reduced by 31% and 98% of electricity sourced from renewables

"At Deoleo, sustainability isn't a trend, it's a purpose that begins at the very source of our oil," said Thierry Moyroud, CEO of Deoleo North America and Latam. "Our initiatives create meaningful impact from field to table, benefiting the environment, farmers, and consumers alike."

The company's pioneering Sustainability Protocol now certifies 88 mills worldwide, positively influencing more than 835,000 acres of farmland and directly collaborating with nearly 60,000 farmers. In 2024, 39% of Deoleo's extra virgin olive oil was sourced from certified mills, advancing toward its 2030 goal of 70%.

Deoleo also earned top governance accolades, achieving:

  • Certification under the AENOR Corporate Governance Index (G++ rating)

  • Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, placing it in the top 1% of 150,000 global companies for ESG

Internally, Deoleo continues to champion diversity and female leadership, with women representing 40% of its workforce and new initiatives like the "Growing Together" Congress supporting women's advancement across the value chain.

"Each advancement in our Sustainability Report proves our commitment is more than intent, it's a living reality," said Maria Martha Luchetti, Deoleo's Director of Marketing, Innovation, and Sustainability. "Every action we take is designed to create lasting, positive impact for people, communities, and the future of olive oil."
