Egypt grants Golden License to Huhtamaki for EGP 1.5 Billion fiberboard packaging factory

FoodTechBiz Desk

Huhtamaki Egypt is proud to announce that the Egyptian Cabinet has granted the prestigious Golden License for its new state-of-the-art factory project in Sadat City, Monufia Governorate. This significant investment, valued at approximately EGP 1.5 billion (including €24 million in foreign investment), will focus on producing sustainable molded fiber packaging solutions such as paper fruit trays, cup carriers, and egg cartons.

The Egyptian Cabinet approved the license during its 28th ministerial meeting, highlighting the strategic importance of the project. The Golden License, which simplifies and accelerates the approval process for high-impact initiatives, has been awarded to only 43 projects since its introduction in 2017.

The factory, spanning 21,700 square meters, will play a pivotal role in advancing local manufacturing by sourcing 70% of its components domestically and exporting 70% of its production to international markets. By deepening local manufacturing and embracing sustainable practices, the project will strengthen Egypt's position as a leader in the sustainable packaging sector while transferring advanced technologies and fostering innovation in the industry.

This project marks Huhtamaki’s fourth investment in Egypt, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the region and its vision for a sustainable future.
