PT Lami Packaging Indonesia (LamiPak Indonesia), a leading provider of high-quality, environmentally friendly aseptic packaging products and solutions, has officially commenced its commercial operations. This facility marks not only the first expansion of the LamiPak Group, but also the first aseptic laminated paper packaging plant in Indonesia producing end-to-end packaging.
Today, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, together with other ministry and institutional officials, regional leaders, and representatives from packaging associations, inaugurated LamiPak Indonesia’s second phase of investment at its factory in Cikande, Serang, Banten. The second investment phase includes the addition of a new production line, expanding total production capacity from 12 billion to 21 billion packs per year.
“This aseptic packaging factory is built on a 16.2-hectare land with a building area of over 55,000 square meters. Located in Cikande, Serang, the factory is equipped with world-class machinery that meets Industry 4.0 standards, making it the most advanced facility ever built by LamiPak. LamiPak Indonesia is now capable of producing 21 billion aseptic packages annually,” said Anton Hui, country managing director of LamiPak Indonesia.
Aseptic packaging refers to beverage containers processed and sealed using aseptic methods that ensure product sterility and quality without refrigeration or added preservatives. This technology enables fresh milk, UHT milk, yogurt, soy milk, fruit juices, tea, flavored coffee, and other drinks to remain fresh longer without spoilage or microbial contamination.
Although Indonesia has been importing aseptic packaging products for more than 50 years, the local aseptic packaging industry has continued to grow—from IDR 87.6 trillion in 2022 to IDR 93.2 trillion in 2023—and is projected to surpass IDR 100 trillion by the end of 2024. With rising demand for eco-friendly and modern packaging solutions, the market is forecasted to grow by 24% over the next five years, making Southeast Asia one of the fastest-growing regions.
Lami Packaging Indonesia began commercial production in 2024 with a capacity of 12 billion packs per year, supporting the domestic food and beverage industry. The high-tech factory, employing 450 people, is the first aseptic packaging manufacturing site in Indonesia and also produces paper straws as a complementary product.
With this domestic investment, LamiPak Indonesia is ready to support the need for healthy, hygienic, and environmentally friendly packaged dairy products, especially aligned with the Indonesian government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.
LamiPak offers a wide range of packaging types in both roll and sleeve formats—including Brick Base, Pillow, and Triangle packs—along with environmentally friendly innovations such as Lamipure, an aluminum-free technology, and paper straws. These innovations can reduce carbon emissions by up to 28% (kg CO₂ equivalent per liter).
