PT Lami Packaging Indonesia (LamiPak) is strengthening its commitment to renewable energy utilization through a partnership with PT Energy Management Indonesia (PLN EMI), marked by the signing of a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) Purchase Agreement on Monday (October 5). The partnership forms part of LamiPak’s efforts to increase the use of renewable energy in its operations while supporting the transition toward cleaner energy.
Under the agreement, LamiPak has committed to purchasing REC over a two-year contract period. In 2026, LamiPak’s REC purchase is projected to reach approximately 10,000 MWh. The REC purchased by LamiPak is sourced from the Orya Genyem Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The Purchase Agreement was signed by Hongbiao Li, Director of PT Lami Packaging Indonesia, together with Henri Firdaus, Chief Executive Officer of PLN EMI. On the occasion, PLN EMI also presented an appreciation certificate to LamiPak in recognition of the company’s commitment to supporting renewable energy utilization through REC.
Henri Firdaus, Chief Executive Officer of PLN EMI stated that the partnership with LamiPak demonstrates the growing role of the industrial sector in supporting renewable energy utilization in Indonesia.
“LamiPak’s REC purchase demonstrates the commitment of the industrial sector to supporting the utilization of renewable energy. Through REC, companies can contribute to the development of clean energy while integrating sustainability into their operations. We appreciate LamiPak’s commitment and hope this partnership will continue to grow and encourage more industrial players to collectively support Indonesia’s energy transition,” said Henri Firdaus, Chief Executive Officer of PLN EMI.
“Purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) is part of LamiPak’s commitment to continuously increase the utilization of renewable energy in our operations. Through our partnership with PLN EMI, we are not only taking steps to support the use of clean energy but also building a long-term commitment that aligns with LamiPak’s sustainability journey. We hope this collaboration will continue to grow and make a positive contribution to Indonesia’s energy transition,” said Hongbiao Li, Director of PT Lami Packaging Indonesia.
LamiPak’s REC purchase is also expected to increase in subsequent periods. This initiative forms part of the company’s efforts to gradually expand its use of renewable energy and strengthen its contribution to reducing emissions from its operations.
REC is a certificate representing the renewable energy attributes of electricity generated by renewable energy power plants. Each REC unit represents one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable energy source. By purchasing REC, customers can support the measurable and documented utilization of renewable energy as part of their efforts to achieve corporate sustainability targets.
Through its collaboration with PLN EMI, LamiPak remains committed to developing initiatives that support renewable energy utilization while strengthening the implementation of sustainability principles across its operations. The partnership represents one of LamiPak’s steps toward building increasingly sustainable operations and supporting Indonesia’s transition to clean energy.
