Atlas Copco, a global leader in compressed Air & Gas compression solutions, has launched the ZGH 100–200 VSD+, an industry-first standard oil-free rotary screw booster for PET blow-moulding applications, at Drinktec India 2026. The innovation brings rotary screw technology to high-pressure air applications of up to 30 bar, offering PET manufacturers a new approach to compressed air system design.  

As India’s beverage industry continues to grow, manufacturers are increasingly focused on production efficiency, product quality, water conservation and sustainability. Reliable utility systems play a critical role across applications such as PET bottle manufacturing, packaging, pneumatic conveying, nitrogen generation and wastewater treatment. Advances in bottle design and blow-moulding technology have also reduced operating pressure requirements on many PET production lines, creating opportunities for rotary screw technology in applications traditionally served by piston boosters.  

The ZGH 100–200 VSD+ boosts clean, dry air from 10 barg to 30 barg at the point of use. Traditionally, PET manufacturers rely on centralised high-pressure compression systems, with piston boosters housed in dedicated compressor rooms and compressed air distributed through extensive piping networks. The compact, low-noise ZGH enables decentralised high-pressure compression, allowing installation close to the blow-moulding machine while retaining the existing medium-pressure compressor infrastructure. This approach can help reduce pressure losses, simplify plant layouts and free up valuable production space.
