The 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) concluded successfully in Beijing, where Cargill, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, marked its third consecutive year of participation. The company showcased its diverse supply chain solutions in the Green Agriculture Chain Zone, offering an immersive booth experience that demonstrated its end-to-end capabilities enabled by global-local synergy. The display highlighted Cargill’s pioneering practices and long-term commitment to enhancing supply chain resilience and advancing sustainability across the global food system.
“The CISCE served not only as a vital platform for industrial collaboration but also as a catalyst for global supply chain innovation and sustainability,” said Penne Kehl, Asia Pacific Group President of Cargill Agriculture and Trading. “As a key player in global supply chains, Cargill remained dedicated to connecting China with the world through safe, efficient, and sustainable full-chain solutions. We engaged deeply in every phase ‘from field to fork,’ empowering synergistic growth across the agricultural and food value chain.”
Digital Technologies + Panoramic Integration Delivered an Immersive Supply Chain Journey
At this year’s CISCE, Cargill’s booth leveraged multi-digital technologies and panoramic integration to transform the agricultural and food supply chain into a visual, tangible, and interactive experience. The booth vividly illustrated Cargill’s end-to-end connectivity across the entire value chain.
A life-like ocean-shipping scene featuring CISCE mascot Linky added a playful, tech-driven element to the visitor journey. Step-through exhibits immersed attendees in real grain-supply-chain scenarios, demonstrating how Cargill sources, stores, processes, and delivers grain worldwide—while highlighting green shipping initiatives and cutting-edge food innovation.
Professional chefs further enriched the experience by preparing premium Australian beef on-site, offering visitors a taste of the exceptional quality made possible by Cargill’s integrated global supply chain. The booth also showcased the company’s diverse product portfolio and integrated solutions across agriculture, food, and pet nutrition.
Advancing Food System Resilience Through Full-Chain Collaboration
Cargill continued to advance a more resilient and sustainable agri-food supply chain through global reach and local engagement. At this year’s expo, the company emphasized end-to-end collaboration across the entire value chain, underscoring green integration, digital transformation, smart technologies, and food processing innovation.
Upstream, Cargill sourced soybeans from Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay under the independently certified TripleS (Sustainably Sourced & Supplied) program—ensuring zero deforestation and no loss of native vegetation. These soybeans were processed into deforestation-free meal and oil for the China market. In parallel, Cargill deepened its domestic commitment by advancing a sustainable corn supply chain in China—training local farmers in water-and-fertilizer-integrated practices and purchasing their corn under forward contracts. This initiative delivered greener food ingredients while promoting responsible use of farmland and natural resources.
Midstream, Cargill operated six oilseed and oil processing plants in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, and Shandong, forming a regionally integrated network for processing, storage, and logistics. Among them, the Hebei Jiahao Grain and Oil facility—the company’s second-largest worldwide—processed 3.3 million tonnes of soybeans annually. Meanwhile, its Songyuan, Jilin site stood as the largest corn-processing hub in Asia, transforming raw corn into starches, syrups, feed, and more. Cargill’s global ocean fleet and last-mile transport network ensured efficient delivery, while renewable energy systems and new-energy heavy trucks reduced emissions.
Downstream, Cargill drove continuous innovation by aligning its "field to fork" strategy with the evolving needs of the industry. With support from Innovation Centers in Shanghai and Beijing, and a robust Asia-Pacific R&D network, Cargill transformed global insights into solutions tailored for China and beyond. The company’s product lineup featured innovations in plant-based foods, dairy, foodservice ingredients, and more.
Lily Guan, President of Cargill China, remarked, “At Cargill, we firmly believe that a resilient and sustainable supply chain is built on collaboration, development, and innovation. As China advances toward high-quality growth, Cargill will continue to leverage its global supply chain expertise and strong local operations to help build a food system that is more resilient, more sustainable, and of higher quality—for China and for the world.”
