Diageo India’s Godawan Artisanal Single Malt and The Good Craft Co. triumph at Icons of Whisky Awards 2026

Honouring Indian craft, conservation, and creativity, Limited Edition Godawan 173 and The Good Craft Co’s Flavour Lab secure global recognition at Icons of Whisky India Awards 2026

Diageo India has been recognised at the Icons of Whisky India Awards 2026, with Godawan 173 winning ‘Brand Innovator of the Year’ and The Good Craft Co. being awarded ‘Visitor Attraction of the Year’. Presented by Whisky Magazine, the awards celebrate excellence across the global whisky ecosystem, recognising leadership, innovation, craftsmanship, and visitor experiences, with winners selected at both global and regional levels. 

The Icons of Whisky Awards are among the industry’s most respected recognitions, focusing on the individuals, experiences, and organisations behind the whisky category. Distinct from product-led awards, they spotlight the efforts that shape the industry, from brand building and innovation to immersive visitor experiences and community impact. 

Godawan 173 represents one of the most ambitious releases in the brand’s portfolio. Limited to just 173 bottles, the edition was created to honour the rise in the population of the critically endangered Great Indian Bustard from 100 to 173 birds. The whisky is the only one in the world finished in heritage Asha liqueur Sal Wood casks, introducing a completely new cask influence to Indian single malts. Each bottle is one-of-a-kind and draws inspiration from Jaipur Blue Pottery, bringing together Indian craft, conservation, and whisky innovation. The recognition as ‘Innovative Brand of the Year’ underscores its ability to push boundaries across both product and storytelling. 

The Good Craft Co., awarded ‘Best Visitor Attraction of the Year’, has quickly established itself as a first-of-its-kind platform for Indian craft spirits. Launched in September 2024, it was created to give Indian craft spirits a platform and a voice, connecting makers with consumers through experiences that blend education and discovery. 

At The Flavour Lab in Bengaluru, The Good Craft Co. has hosted sessions that explore India’s craft landscape, from sustainability and food circularity to deep dives into India’s liquid heritage, alongside workshops on cocktails, flavour-building, and fermentation. Bringing together distillers, bartenders, hospitality professionals, and consumers, it has grown into a vibrant community that champions the diversity of Indian craft spirits.
