Fortune Foods, India’s No. 1 staples brand and part of AWL Agri Business Ltd (formerly Adani Wilmar Ltd), created history this Ganesh Chaturthi by unveiling the biggest modak made with traditional ingredients. Weighing an extraordinary 800 kg, the modak has been officially recognised by the World Record Book of India as the ‘Biggest Modak Using Traditional Ingredients’.

Made with Fortune Besan, Fortune Sugar, milk and mawa, the giant modak became the centerpiece of the pandal and a symbol of Fortune’s deep connection with 1 in every 3 Indian households across the country. At Girgaon Cha Raja, Fortune executed extensive branding spread over 5,000 sq. ft., making the brand’s presence synonymous with the grandeur of the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh Mishra, joint president – Sales & Marketing, AWL Agri Business Ltd, said, “At the heart of every Indian festival lies food, and for Ganesh Chaturthi, modak is the most treasured delicacy. Fortune, as the country’s largest staples brand, has always been part of kitchens nationwide – from everyday meals to festive feasts. By creating the biggest modak with traditional ingredients, we wanted to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi at scale while honouring our heritage. We also understand that every region in India celebrates festivals in its own unique way – from Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra to Durga Puja in Bengal – and Fortune’s role is to connect with these traditions in a meaningful and authentic manner.”

Adding to this, Ganesh Lingayat, secretary of the Girgaon Cha Raja Mandal, said: “Girgaon Cha Raja has always been about devotion and community. This year, the unveiling of the biggest modak by Fortune brought a new dimension of joy to our celebrations. It was a historic moment that blended tradition with grandeur and brought delight to thousands of devotees.”

As part of its 360-degree festive marketing campaign, Fortune has created a strong on-ground presence with branding across 25 major pandals in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur, covering over 166,800 sq. ft. branding space, along with high-impact OOH, MyGate activations across 132 societies and 800+ lifts, plus two LED screens at Lalbaugh Cha Raja Pandal. On the digital front, Fortune introduced an interactive contest where users built a virtual Ganesha idol through fun games over three days, generating personalised festive greetings widely shared online and amplified by influencers.

Established in 1928, Girgaon Cha Raja is one of Mumbai’s oldest and most revered sarvajanik Ganesh mandals, renowned for its eco-friendly clay idol and emphasis on tradition over spectacle. This year, the unveiling of the record-breaking modak added a fresh wave of excitement, reinforcing the timeless role of food in bringing people together during festivals.

With this monumental tribute, Fortune once again reaffirmed its place at the heart of India’s celebrations – from the thali to the pandal – making festivals richer, more memorable, and truly connected to the people.
