The second day of MEWA India 2026 witnessed several high-level brainstorming sessions that brought policymakers and industry leaders together to position India at the centre of the global nuts and dry fruits value chain. Notably, the third edition of MEWA India 2026—India’s largest international trade exhibition for nuts, dry fruits and value-added nutrition—is being organised at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, and will continue until January 25.

Organised by the Nuts & Dry Fruits Council (India) – NDFC(I), the event is hosting over 10,000 business visitors and 300+ exhibitors from more than 30 countries, reinforcing India’s growing importance in the global nuts and dry fruits ecosystem. The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Bhagirath Choudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

Prof. (Dr.) Gourav Vallabh, Member, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, said, “While most large economies are struggling to cross 2–3 per cent growth, India is consistently growing above 7 per cent with controlled inflation. This combination of high growth and low inflation is driving higher per capita incomes, an improved quality of life, and a natural shift in consumption patterns, including increased demand for nutritious foods such as nuts and dry fruits. Dry fruits and nuts aren’t just snacks; they are symbols of Viksit Bharat—nutritious, exportable and self-reliant. Let us commit to growing in India what we eat in India. Together, we can turn imports into investments and fields into fortunes.”

Exhibitors from the United States, South America, the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia and Australia are showcasing a wide range of offerings, including nuts, dry fruits, berries, value-added nutrition products, processing and packaging machinery, logistics services and technology solutions. Participation from the International Nut & Dried Fruit Council (INC) further adds to the event’s global scale.

Gunjan Vijay Jain, President, NDFC(I), said that MEWA India has evolved into a strong international platform connecting Indian stakeholders with global markets while advancing dialogue on nutrition, health and the responsible growth of the sector.

Highlighting the sustainability and capacity-building focus, Col. Nitin Sehgal, VSM (Veteran), CEO, NDFC(I), said that MEWA India 2026 enables meaningful engagement between domestic stakeholders and global experts across technology adoption, quality standards and market access.

MEWA India 2026 also places strong emphasis on women’s participation, recognising the sector as one of India’s most women-intensive food processing segments. The exhibition features buyer-seller meetings, retail connect programmes and knowledge sessions focused on quality, logistics and global trade readiness.

The organisers said MEWA India 2026 is expected to play a significant role in strengthening India’s position in the global nutrition and healthy snacking ecosystem.
