Provisur and MULTIVAC combine their expertise in industrial food processing and packaging technology

FoodTechBiz Desk

Precision and efficiency are essential in modern food processing systems to boost profitability. To foster innovation and deliver excellence Provisur Technologies, a leader in food processing equipment, and MULTIVAC, renowned for packaging and automation expertise, recently formed a cooperation agreement.

The Packaging & Processing Forum was a customer event held at the MULTIVAC UK Innovation Centre in Swindon, UK, from 2-3 October 2025. Provisur and MULTIVAC presented two fully automated solutions, as well as treating customers to a social evening and charity auction. The solutions - a bacon and an FMS line - demonstrated the companies’ high-level collaboration and unmatched experience.

Bringing world-leading technologies together

The partnership brings together decades of knowledge and experience. Combining Provisur’s innovative technology and world-renowned legacy brands with MULTIVAC’s unrivalled packaging and line automation expertise, customers are assured of reliable performance and long-term value.  By using the same software platform, the two companies ensure seamless integration and full-line automation.

High volume bacon pressing and packaging

The integrated bacon line at the event showcased:

Hoegger X3 PRO Form Press

Provisur’s Hoegger X3 PRO Form Press features groundbreaking loadsensing technology, as well as a toolless quick release die set system that optimally prepares the meat for slicing. The servo-hydraulic system enables fast and precise pressing of products, delivering maximum yield with minimum operating costs. Intelligent control of force shapes the product gently into the ideal slicing form.

One Provisur customer at the event, Carl Green, Head of Engineering at Becketts Foods, highlighted the performance of the Hoegger X3 PRO Form Press:

“After an intensive four-week trial comparing machines from Provisur and a leading competitor, Becketts confidently chose Provisur as their partner of choice. The pressing result is consistent and clean, making downstream handling much more efficient.”

Press-to-Slice Module

Provisur’s Press-to-Slice Module weighs, scans and aligns each individual product before it is transferred to the slicer, thus optimizing the workflow between the Hoegger press and the Formax slicer. A 3D scanner and scales provide precise data. Blue light sensor technology generates a three-dimensional image of the product to determine portioning before slicing, ensuring exact portions and higher yields.

Formax SX550

The third module in the Swindon line was the Provisur Formax SX550 high-speed twin lane slicer. It achieves high throughput and is designed for demanding, high-performance applications. In combination with the Press-to-Slice Module, it delivers maximum yield and superior portion weight accuracy.

MULTIVAC RX 4.0 Thermoformer

To complete the line, MULTIVAC presented its Thermoforming X-line, perfectly tailored for bacon packaging. It offers improved material efficiency and better shelf life. The X-line perfectly matches the output of Provisur slicers, delivering maximum reliability, consistent quality and high process speeds. With its comprehensive sensor system and seamless connection to the MULTIVAC Cloud and Smart Services, the X-line sets new standards.

As Lewis Pascoe, Product Manager Slicing at MULTIVAC UK, says, “By combining MULTIVAC’s expertise in automation and packaging with Provisur’s slicing technology, we can deliver complete solutions that raise performance, yield and efficiency. This ensures long-term success.”

The FMS (Free Movement System) line: high yield and versatility

The second highlight of the event was the automated FMS line, featuring:

Formax SX380

Provisur’s Formax family delivers extremely compact design and extensive configuration options. The Formax SX380 is ideal for medium-sized operations and provides the perfect solution for products of different lengths or uneven shapes. It combines superior performance, the highest level of hygienic design, and true flexibility.

Formax Free Movement System (FMS)

The FMS, a true innovation at the cutting edge of product handling, is an extremely compact and hygienic handling system for sliced products. It utilizes free-floating movers that ride along an electromagnetic surface to enable smooth product handling – portions glide seamlessly from slicer to packager. The FMS is ideal for complex product applications that require a high level of flexibility.

MULTIVAC W 510 Flow wrapper

Flow wrapper solutions from MULTIVAC are designed for durability and maximum availability. Their high degree of automation and accessible design ensure that cleaning and maintenance are easy and reliable. Thanks to their flowpacking speed of up to 30 m/min, they achieve an output of up to 120 packs per minute.

Innovation and support

Beyond demonstrating equipment, Provisur and MULTIVAC emphasized their commitment to supporting customers throughout their processing needs. Provisur’s Innovation Center (PIC) near Paris invites clients to test Provisur's industrial food processing systems in collaboration with Provisur experts. MULTIVAC’s Custom Care solutions provide a wide range of after-sales products and services available worldwide - from preventive maintenance, machine inspections and retrofits, to remote assistance, live support, spare parts, and repairs. Customers benefit from long-term peace of mind and operational excellence.

Driving the future of food processing

The joint event marked a milestone in Provisur and MULTIVAC’s partnership. By bringing world-leading technologies together, the two companies are setting new standards for the future of the industry.
