No operational challenges reported under PLISFPI

Scheme drives capacity expansion and employment generation

FoodTechBiz Desk

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has stated that no operational challenges have been observed among the approved units under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industries (PLISFPI).

The PLISFPI scheme is designed to promote wider participation of small and medium enterprises and encourage diversification into new and value-added food product categories. Of the approved applicants under the scheme, 69 entities and 40 contract manufacturers belong to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. In addition, MoFPI continues to extend support to micro enterprises through complementary initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY).

Under PLISFPI, eligible applicants have adopted advanced technologies to establish multiple production lines for manufacturing and processing a wide range of food products. The scheme has resulted in the creation of food processing capacity of approximately 35 lakh metric tonnes per annum across the country. Furthermore, around 3.39 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities have been generated under the scheme.

This information was provided by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Shri Ravneet Singh, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
