iD Fresh Food, India’s most loved fresh food brand, has announced the expansion of its protein portfolio with the launch of iD Protein Chapati and iD Protein Parota. The products are currently available in Bengaluru and Mumbai, with Delhi expected to go live later this month. This launch marks a strategic step forward in iD’s journey to make everyday food more nutritious, without altering familiar eating habits. Building on the success of its protein-rich batter, the brand is extending its protein proposition into widely consumed staples, enabling consumers to meet their daily protein requirements more effortlessly.
India continues to face a significant protein gap, with a large section of the population falling short of the recommended daily intake. While awareness around protein consumption is rising, it often comes with the perception of needing to adopt new diets or incorporate supplements. iD’s approach is rooted in simplicity by integrating protein into foods that people already consume daily, such as chapatis and parotas, making nutrition both accessible and sustainable. With this launch, iD is tapping into India’s fast-growing protein-infused food segment, valued at approximately INR 38,247 crore in 2024 and projected to cross INR 1.36 lakh crore by 2033, driven by rising consumer focus on everyday nutrition.
Commenting on the launch, Rajat Diwaker, CEO, India, iD Fresh Food, said, “At iD, our focus has always been to make everyday food better, whether it's fresher, cleaner, and now more nutritious. The expansion of our protein portfolio is a natural progression of this philosophy. With Protein Chapati and Protein Parota, we are enabling consumers to bridge their daily protein gap without having to change what they eat. It’s about enhancing the nutritional value of staples that are already a part of millions of Indian households.”
Enakshi Dasgupta, Head of New Product Development, iD Fresh Food, added, “Our innovation approach has always been centred on relevance and ease. After the encouraging response to our protein batter, it was a logical next step to extend this benefit to our other staple formats like chapati and parota. These are foods consumed across regions and age groups, and by enriching them with protein, we are helping consumers make small but meaningful improvements to their daily diets without compromising on taste, freshness, or convenience.”
The new range has been developed in line with iD’s clean-label philosophy, ensuring that the products are free from preservatives, chemicals, and artificial additives, while retaining the taste, softness, and authenticity expected from these traditional staples.
