Founded in Barcelona in 1992, Bossar soon consolidated its position and worldwide leadership as a horizontal form fill seal (HFFS) and pick fill seal machine (PFS) designer and manufacturer for flexible packaging.

Taking us through the company’s history, Ankur Bansal, sales manager, Bossar Packaging, says, “Bossar India established their first overseas manufacturing facility in India in January 2018 at Chakan Pune to build European design equipment and offer competitive price for their robust HFFS & PFS machines.”

The company has manufactured 45+ machines till date from its Pune plant.

Recently SIG Combibloc, a system and solutions provider for aseptic packaging, agreed to acquire Scholle IPN, an innovator of sustainable packaging systems and solutions for liquids. Scholle IPN Bossar is now a part of SIG Combibloc. Scholle IPN has an expertise in designing and manufacturing various innovative dispensing valves for pouches, as well as bag-in-box for aseptic and non-aseptic applications.

Scholle IPN – Bossar together offer total packaging solutions and aim at introducing innovation and value-added products in flexible packaging.

Commitment to quality

The newly opened Quality Lab at Bossar focuses on enhancing its capabilities in studying and analyzing packaging. The tests are conducted with a scientific approach in order to obtain all the necessary data and classify it for future applications and developments. By analyzing the mechanical properties of the machines, and understanding the barrier properties and the behavior of the materials during the welding process, Bossar develops new recyclable plastic packaging structures.

Bossar adapts its packaging machines to these new structures, and mostly, studies and improves the sealing process of pouches, especially with spouts and zippers. Total Packaging Solutions not only guarantee the best OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) of machinery, the lowest total cost of ownership of the packaging unit, but also enable customers to develop and choose recyclable plastics packaging solutions, and therefore commit to an eco-sustainable economy.

Growth of the F&B industry

According to Bansal, the food and beverage industry is growing rapidly. It was already a 435.3 billion combined market in 2021 and its worldwide revenue is expected to increase from $506.3 billion this year to $856.9 billion by 2025. He adds, “Like other verticals, 2020 saw a massive shift to online purchasing, a 51.6% year-over-year (YoY) increase for food and 39.3% for beverages.”

At ANUTEC/PackEx

Bossar Packaging will be participating in the upcoming trade show ANUTEC to be held in September 2022. Regarding the products to be displayed at the event, Bansal says, “We will be exhibiting fitments, bag in box and shall be presenting new edge packaging technology used in HFFS machines.”

Excited to be a part of the event that is one of the most awaited among food businesses across India, Bansal comments, “PackEx is a platform where we get all the leading players of the F&B industry under one roof. We are expecting more leads and inquiries to enhance our business. We are also looking to get an entry for our total packaging solution business in the food & beverage industry.”
