Expect more from your floor - Silikal India

Floor coatings and industrial floors based on reactive resins have been Silikal Germany’s core business since 1951. With a background in screed construction, Silikal decided to concentrate on the development and manufacturing of floor coatings based on Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) resin. Silikal started its operations in India, 2017 at Bangalore, Karnataka, focused only on MMA flooring.

Based in Mainhausen near Frankfurt, Germany, Silikal manufactures MMA reactive resins for flooring and building protection. Describing the company’s product portfolio, Philip Jacob, Director, Silikal India says, “The extensive range includes products for industrial and commercial flooring, concrete repairs and maintenance, waterproofing of buildings, road markings, and tactile guidance systems.” He added that the marketing takes place via the company’s own sales team, representatives, specialist installers from the trade, construction, and building protection companies as well as intermediaries such as engineers, planners, and architects.

Silikal now operates in more than 60 countries worldwide and is represented in Germany and Europe as well as on every continent in the world.

Fast Curing Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) flooring solution by Silikal

Describing the MMA flooring solutions manufactured at Silikal, Jacob shares, “Methyl Methacrylate flooring is slowly getting identified by the commercial and industrial construction projects because of their advantages. Given the right conditions, MMA flooring will cure or achieve its mechanical strength in 60 minutes of installation of the last layer.”

Elaborating on its practicality, he says, “The seamless floor coating can usually be applied, or damaged areas repaired, without any interruption, to refrigeration at temperatures down to -25 °C. In around an hour, the new Silikal coating in a cold store is already cured and reached its full strength. So, the whole process can be completed in an evening or over the weekend to avoid any disruption to normal working hours. This saves time and money.”

He added that Silikal floor also has a lot to offer in terms of aesthetics. There is a huge range of colors to choose from, enabling users to create an attractive working environment. MMA floors are not only applied on new concrete but also on old concrete, tiles, metal, wood, and on natural stone. This versatility saves hours in surface preparation, particularly in maintenance shutdown scenarios, as it can be applied directly to the existing floor finish.

At ANUTEC- International FoodTec India 2022

Silikal India will take part in the upcoming ANUTEC event and showcase its products to a wide range of customers and visitors. Jacob believes that ANUTEC is the right platform for the company to display its flooring products and convey the importance of hygienic floors in the food processing industry. Regarding the product to be displayed, he says, “We are displaying our new generation of Methyl Methacrylate resin-based (MMA Resin) floors used for food production factories.”

Since the product is a new one for India, the Silikal India team expects to convey the merits of its Methyl Methacrylate resin-based flooring system, and how it helps in the long-term basis to the visitors.

Looking ahead

Sharing the future plans and vision of Silikal India, Jacob says, “The vision is to educate more people about this product in India and make it a must floor for all wet processing industries and cold rooms. The future plans are to expand to different locations for better reach.”
