AWL Agri Business imports India's largest single parcel of degummed soybean oil

AWL Agri Business, one of India's largest Food and FMCG companies, has imported 66,800 metric tonnes of degummed soybean oil (DSBO) in a single parcel, making this the largest single parcel of edible oil ever brought into an Indian port on one vessel. The cargo sailed from San Lorenzo, Argentina, aboard the MT Bangus and was discharged at Mundra Port. The oil will be refined at the company's Mundra facility.

Sourcing a consignment of this size in one shipment, rather than splitting it across three or four smaller parcels, lowers ocean freight on a per-tonne basis, cuts the number of port calls and the associated turnaround costs, and gives the refinery a longer uninterrupted run on a single, consistent batch of feedstock.

AWL Agri Business acknowledges the support of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ) and the Mundra Port operations team in planning and executing the discharge with the liquid cargo infrastructure available at Mundra. Equipped with deep-draft berths, dedicated edible oil pipelines, and ample shore tankage, the port efficiently handled the fully laden tanker, ensuring smooth receipt of the cargo and minimizing vessel delays.

India buys more than half of its cooking oil requirement from overseas, and soybean oil is among the largest volumes in that basket alongside palm and sunflower.
