A leading panel of industry experts selected Chr. Hansen’s FRESHQ concept at this year’s prize-giving at Food Ingredients Europe in Frankfurt, Germany. The award is presented to a company that is breaking new ground in the food and beverage industry with an innovative, technical solution. Chr. Hansen’s next-generation FRESHQ food cultures hit bull’s eye in that context, removing the main technical barrier for implementation of fermentation-enabled bioprotection to help reduce food waste.

After proudly accepting the award Marianne Gregersen, commercial development manager, Chr. Hansen said, “We are very happy that the jury of food experts acknowledges the game-changing qualities of our next-generation of FRESHQ. This innovation brings fermentation-enabled bioprotection to the dairy producers, who need it the most; making it possible to fight food waste in regions where cold chains can be challenged. The award motivates us, even more, to keep pushing the boundaries of fermentation.”

A game-changer in terms of low impact on post acidification

According to the company, this next-generation FRESHQ culture enables the dairy industry to level up by offering producers the following benefits:

  • Less post-acidification impact at accelerated temperatures during distribution or in circumstances involving long holding times or slow cooling

  • Improved sensory fit compared to other food cultures with bioprotective effects

  • The same best-in-class bioprotective performance producers expect from the FRESHQ range.
