Godawan artisanal single malt whisky, renowned for its unparalleled craftsmanship and exceptional quality, has garnered widespread acclaim for celebrating Indian heritage. The spirit proudly announces its return to the prestigious Festival de Cannes for the third consecutive year, championing Indian rarity and excellence through two marquee experiences.

Born out of Rajasthan, Godawan is India’s most awarded single malt in recent times - with 44 national and international accolades to its name. In April 2024, its limited-edition expression, Godawan 100, was crowned 'Single Malt Whisky of the Year’ at the prestigious London Spirits Competition.

Steadfast in its commitment to showcasing Indian craftsmanship on the global stage, Godawan is collaborating with critically-acclaimed Chef Varun Totlani to host an exclusive Ministers’ Dinner on May 15. This highly coveted event invites 30 discerning guests to the Gray D’Albion Hotel's La Terrasse Du Gray, to experience a bespoke spread that captivates the essence of ‘Made in India, For the World’. The dinner will bring alive unique indigenous ingredients such as Indian cacao, Ponkh, and Kashmiri morel, while also celebrating the organic farm-to-table revolution that is underfoot in the country. Each progressive dish represents Indian culinary excellence, paired with Godawan 01 and 02, to showcase the best of Indian artisanal spirits.

At the core of Godawan’s mission lies a commitment to conservation and restoration, to ensure the preservation of India's cultural heritage. The brand’s second endeavor at Cannes Film Festival 2024 involves the preservation of classic Indian films via digitization and color restoration. This promises audiences an immersive journey into Indian cinematic legacy around the country once the film festival is over. The project has kicked off with the restoration of archived classic Indian film posters, which will be showcased in a curated exhibition at Cannes Film Festival 2024.

Speaking on the occasion, Ruchira Jaitly, chief marketing officer, Diageo India, said, “Cannes Film Festival 2024 marks another milestone for Godawan and DIAGEO India, as we champion Indian excellence on the world stage. Our film restoration project underscores our core belief in the power of storytelling and upholding cultural heritage, and we look forward to sharing the richness of India's artistic legacy with audiences worldwide. Godawan is committed to celebrating artistry in every format – be it spirit, culture, or cinema; and we stand strong in our endeavor to allow Indian craftsmanship to shine.”

Godawan was born from a vision to push boundaries in whisky craftsmanship by challenging perceptions and defying traditional whisky production norms. Distilled in Alwar, a region devoid of conventional whisky making terroir, Godawan leverages Rajasthan’s elevated temperatures, heritage techniques, and unique botanicals to bring to life a range of Indian single malts that will cater to every palate - Light and Floral, Fruity and Spicy, Rich and Rounded, Full bodied and Smoky. It achieves this by crafting a mother liquid that is flexible enough to manifest itself across each flavor profile. Currently, the brand has launched two unique expressions - 01 Rich and Rounded and 02 Fruit and Spice, available in 12 markets across India: Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Assam, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
