USSEC and BKP strengthen sustainability partnership through MoU

U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) and Bangkok Produce Merchandising Public Company Limited (BKP), a subsidiary company of Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) have signed a Sustainability Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen responsible sourcing practices and support a sustainable supply chain for soybeans, soybean meal, and soy products used as feed ingredients by BKP in Thailand and globally. The signing ceremony was honored by the presence of H.E. Sean O’Neill, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, and Mr. Boonchai Opas-iam-likit, Chairman of the U.S., EU and UK Business at Charoen Pokphand Group, who served as witnesses to the signing.

This MoU builds on the cooperation first formalized between BKP and USSEC in 2023 to continues BKP’s sustainability initiatives through knowledge and information sharing to support responsible, transparent, and sustainable sourcing across its feed operations. It reflects BKP and USSEC’s shared commitment to collaboration in sustainability, traceability, and industry advancement.

The MoU also expands cooperation in capability building and technical collaboration. This includes workforce development through the Soy Excellence Center Asia — a USSEC program that provides practical, industry focused training for feed, livestock, aquaculture, and food professionals across the region. In addition, both organizations will explore feeding trials to better understand feed performance in real world conditions, along with other joint initiatives that support responsible sourcing and long term sustainability.

Mr. Thiti Lujintanon, Chief Executive Officer of BKP highlights the significance of the MoU: “We look forward to working closely with USSEC on sustainable sourcing, knowledge sharing, people development, and practical ways to measure our sustainability progress.

We are also excited about the technical collaboration, including broiler feeding trials, feed optimization, carbon footprint, nitrogen emissions, and growth modelling. Beyond the technical work, we see opportunities to engage teams across our value chain, from procurement and nutrition to sustainability, production, and commercial teams, as well as our customers and other stakeholders.”

These practices help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, optimize water and soil use, and strengthen long term resilience across food and feed systems — providing BKP with a dependable, sustainability focused ingredient as demand for responsible sourcing continues to grow.
