Aptar Food + Beverage – Food Protection, part of AptarGroup, and a leader in active material science food safety solutions will demonstrate the InvisiShield antimicrobial delivery system deployment process on Proseal’s GT0 machine at the IFPA Global Floral and Produce Show, Booth 127, 27 to 29 October in Orlando, Florida.

The InvisiShield antimicrobial system leverages Aptar CSP Technologies’ proprietary 3-Phase Activ-Polymer platform to deliver a first-of-its-kind food safety solution to mitigate the risk of foodborne illness from pathogens introduced through the supply chain. The novel active material science-based system is deployed as an extruded Activ-Film material affixed to the lidding film of a package. After the package is sealed, the InvisiShield system releases a controlled amount of chlorine dioxide to reduce pathogens commonly associated with minimally processed foods by as much as 99.9%.

To enable easy deployment of this technology, Aptar and Proseal jointly developed an easy-to-integrate Film Application Module (FAM) that can be retrofitted onto existing Proseal machines. With the FAM, the lidding film and InvisiShield technology are applied at the same time, without the use of adhesive. There is no additional labor required and no impact on line speed. This enables easy adoption of Aptar’s InvisiShield antimicrobial technology for food safety, removing potential barriers for customers, who are ready to use the ground-breaking technology.

In addition to InvisiShield technology and the new machine, Aptar will showcase its FreshWell Absorbent Packaging Systems, including its new commercially compostable options.
