On 16 October 2021, Chamber for Advancement of Small & Medium Businesses (CASMB), in association with AFST-Pune Chapter, NetProFan- Pune Chapter, Indian Dietic Association- Pune chapter, Nutrition Society of India, and IAPEN India Association, celebrated the World Food Day. During this virtual event, CASMB launched the eLearning platform Foodtech Pathshala and PurnaBrahma quarterly Magazine Volume 2.

World Food Day is an international day celebrated every year worldwide on 16 October to commemorate the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with hunger and food security, including the World Food Programme (WFP), the World Health Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. WFP received the Nobel Prize in Peace for 2020 for their efforts to combat hunger, contribute to peace in conflict areas, and play a leading role in stopping the use of hunger in the form of a weapon for war and conflict.

The event was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Uday Annapure, director, ICT-Mumbai. He emphasized the tagline given by WHO this year, “Our Actions are our future” and said, “It is good time to realize and put forth steps in an appropriate way for the future. The concept of food sustainability was introduced around ten years back, and now is the time to think and act.” According to him, better production, better nutrition, better environment, and better life is the tagline that should be followed for a better future.

He further stated, “Land is the only thing that cannot be produced. We are converting agricultural land into human civilization. Therefore, protection of arable land should be the priority. In addition, better environment is another aspect. As we try to create something, it does affect the environment and disturbs the ecosystem. If we care for nature, nature will care for us.”
