The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western Region is organising the CII WR National Food Processing Summit in Nagpur, bringing senior government leaders, industry, innovators and global players together to shape the next phase of India’s food processing growth.

Key EMINENT Speakers addressing the Summit include Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Shri Dattatray Vithoba Bharne, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture.

In recent national reviews and speeches, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has underlined the need to build a modern, export-ready and farmer-centric food processing ecosystem, calling it one of India’s biggest engines for rural income growth, job creation and global market expansion. He has emphasised greater value addition, stronger agri-logistics, technology adoption, and a sharper focus on food exports—priorities that align directly with the agenda of the Nagpur Summit.

Burjis Godrej, Chairman of the CII WR Sub-Committee on Agri & Food and Executive Director, Godrej Agrovet, said the country’s food processing sector has reached a “transformational inflection point” driven by rising demand for safe, nutritious, affordable and sustainable food. He highlighted the need to strengthen farmer-centric value chains, technology-led processing, cold-chain and logistics capacity, and innovation in food safety, sustainability and exports. He noted that the CII WR Food Processing Summit in Nagpur will serve as a strong platform for industry, innovators and farmers to come together, exchange ideas and build partnerships that can help create a globally competitive food ecosystem.

Aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of positioning India as a global food production and processing hub, the Summit will focus on value addition, farm-to-fork efficiency, agri-logistics, export competitiveness and modern food processing clusters. Senior government officials including Shri Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary (Agriculture); Shri Anil Diggikar, Additional Chief Secretary (Food & Civil Supplies); and Dr. Ramaswami N, Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairy & Fisheries, will outline Maharashtra’s roadmap for a technology-driven, future-ready food processing sector.

Maharashtra remains a key anchor for India’s processed food industry with its strong agricultural base, food parks, research capabilities and supply-chain infrastructure. Nagpur—backed by its central location, multimodal connectivity and MIHAN-led industrial growth—is emerging as one of the country’s most strategically placed food logistics and processing centres.

The Summit will also feature insights from industry leaders including Burjis Godrej, Piruz Khambatta (CMD, Rasna Ltd), Abhay Parnerkar (CEO, Godrej Foods) and Dr. Dilip Ghosh (Director, ICAR-CCRI). Discussions will cover innovation, agri-tech, value chains, investment opportunities and global best practices, offering participants opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and business expansion across the food processing ecosystem.
