The fisheries and aquaculture sector supports the livelihood of millions of people worldwide and plays a crucial role in contributing to employment, livelihoods, food security, and the nation's economy. Despite vibrant marine fisheries and aqua farming potential, the sector has been beset by several challenges in recent years. The need of an hour is to look for smart fish and aqua farming solutions. To reach its full economic potential and achieve the mission of doubling farmers' income as envisioned by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Indian fish and aqua farming urgently need the second Blue Revolution to build efficient market links towards sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.

Building a sustainable & resilient blue economy

Keeping in mind this important and timely background, ASSOCHAM is organizing a Virtual Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture with the theme 'Strategic roadmap towards enabling Blue Revolution and Economic Growth - Technologies - Infrastructure - Finance - Marketing - Export' on 28 September 2021 at 11 AM. The aim is to deliberate upon the issues which can improve the rate of growth in this sector in the state and record all the necessary steps to enter into new era of fisheries and aquaculture to improve productivity along with a strong focus on the latest opportunities in the sector along with a focus on technology, marketing, finance, export, and infra facilities. This virtual conference also aims to highlight the subsidies and various incentives provided by the government to promote aqua farming.

Senior officials from Central and State governments and key industry players from the sector have been invited to share their perspectives and clarify various schemes, policies, and fiscal frameworks. The session will be focused on various challenges, issues, and way forward for the betterment of this industry.
