Regulation (EU) 2025/40, the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), marks a significant shift from voluntary sustainability initiatives to mandatory, harmonized requirements applicable across all EU member states. With the first enforcement measures, including restrictions on substances of concern and PFAS, taking effect in August 2026, businesses face increasing pressure to ensure their packaging is compliant, verifiable and supported by robust documentation.
