In a move that reflects the evolution of legacy food brands in line with changing consumer preferences, Jagdish Farshan, one of India’s oldest and most respected names in traditional snacks and namkeen, has introduced one of India’s first sev ranges made using avocado oil. The brand has also announced the upcoming launch of 80g grab-and-go packs across its snack portfolio.

With a legacy spanning over eight decades and a portfolio of more than 500 SKUs across multiple markets, the company’s latest innovations signal a strategic shift toward conscious ingredients and modern consumption habits—while staying true to its core taste and heritage. The avocado oil sev range, available in four variants, caters to the growing demand for “better-for-you” indulgences and is distributed across e-commerce, retail, and quick commerce channels.

Commenting on the development, Aakash Kandoi, Managing Director, Jagdish Farshan, said, “Consumers today are no longer choosing between taste and better ingredients—they expect both. For a brand like ours, the opportunity lies not in reinventing what has worked for decades, but in evolving it meaningfully. With the avocado oil sev range, we are rethinking a key element of a familiar product—the oil—while retaining its essence. At the same time, our new pack formats reflect changing consumption patterns that are more mobile, frequent, and intentional. This is not a departure from tradition, but a more relevant expression of it.”

In addition to ingredient innovation, Jagdish Farshan is reimagining product accessibility through the introduction of 80g packs across its namkeen range. Designed for convenience, these portion-controlled packs cater to the increasing demand for on-the-go snacking, particularly among urban consumers. The format also aligns with rising trends of impulse purchases and higher consumption frequency, enabling the brand to expand its reach across a broader consumer base.

The avocado oil sev range is currently available pan-India and is also being white-labelled for modern trade channels such as Food Square.

This dual launch underscores Jagdish Farshan’s broader strategy—where tradition and transformation coexist. By combining trusted recipes with evolving ingredient choices and contemporary formats, the brand is positioning itself for the next generation of snack consumers.
