South India’s largest edible oil brand, Sunpure, celebrated the day of love in the most heartening way this year. Children from an orphanage in Mysore unveiled Sunpure’s flagship Sunflower Oil in a brand new two-litre PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle as part of the company’s Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Apart from being 100% recyclable and highly sustainable, the new design and packaging is convenient to hold and use during cooking. Also, it is transparent so that consumers can see what they are buying.

As a brand that’s recognized for its purity, Sunpure honors the pureness of children, particularly those who have fewer privileges and opportunities than most individuals. The Valentine’s Day event at Sunpure’s Srirangapatna campus was a fun-filled experience, with the company’s leadership team bonding with the children over exciting games, painting competition and a sumptuous lunch.

Commenting on the unique initiative, Imran Khan, director, Sunpure said, “We had a very special Valentine’s Day this year! The children brought in much joy and liveliness to our launch event. We strongly believe that every child deserves a good life and equal opportunities as an organization. As part of our CSR efforts this year, we are planning various focused programmes, including a dedicated sponsorship that enables underprivileged girls to complete schooling. We are also looking at funding the education for 1000 disadvantaged children across Karnataka and renovating government schools in and around Srirangapatna. It’s inspiring to note that several of our employees have volunteered to conduct English, Maths and Computer classes for these children. They are India’s future – we need to invest in them.”

Ramya Arockiasamy, HR head, Masoom Group, further added, “The children were thrilled to unveil the two-litre Sunpure Sunflower Oil PET bottle. The innocence in these children is synonymous with the purity of our products, making this celebration all the more meaningful. At Sunpure, we are committed to empowering these children and helping them become financially independent. Giving back to society is one of the most meaningful ways of celebrating love.”

Last year, Sunpure had appointed actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood as its brand ambassador, reiterating the brands’ core values of purity, care, honesty, and trustworthiness. Unlike other brands that use harmful mineral oil as the heating medium for the refining process, Sunpure uses RO treated water. It is India’s first chemical-free, processed and physically refined oil with a patented technology.

The company’s environmentally friendly manufacturing process is another noteworthy feature. The company uses 100% green electricity generated by windmills, producing eight times more power than it consumes!

Currently, Sunpure is present in key markets across India, namely, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. The range of products include Sunpure Sunflower oil, Sunpure Filtered Groundnut Oil, Sunpure Rice Bran Health, Palmpure (imported refined palmolein oil), Sunpure Sugar (refined via a sulphur-free process) and Sunpure swaad (whole wheat aata produced using Swiss technology).
