Every parent wants their children to eat healthy and nutritious food. However, it's difficult for them to ensure a healthy and balanced meal or snack every time with busy lifestyles. Moreover, due to increasing double-income households, children today have easy access to packaged food than ever before.

Bangalore-based startup Timios realized that there are limited options available in healthy, age-appropriate packaged food for children. Founded by brother-sister duo Aswani Chaitanya and Hima Bindu in 2016, the brand offers an array of healthy snacks and age-specific food products for kids and babies.

Aswani Chaitanya, chief executive officer and co-founder, speaks about the brand, "Timios aimed to provide a wholesome and nutritional alternative to regular snacks currently available in the market. In addition, we wanted to offer age-appropriate nutrition to children, starting from 6+ months to 12+ years."

With eight categories of products, Timios offers a porridge range, finger food, munchies, energy bars, breakfast cereal, biscuits, probiotic bites, baby cereals, and much more. Each product is made with natural or organic ingredients and contains zero preservatives. Chaitanya adds, "At Timios, we aim to create healthy packaged food that is nutritious, age-appropriate, natural, and is also low on salt and sugar."

According to Chaitanya, Timios has served over 2.5 lakh customers to date. The products are available on its website, online across all the major eCommerce platforms, including Amazon, Bigbasket, Firstcry, and Flipkart. With 500+ orders every day, the company also sells its products in over 350 stores.

Timios delivers its products at the PAN India level, and has warehouses in major metros such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi. Apart from India, the brand is present in a select few countries, including the US, Dubai, and Singapore. Moreover, to cater to the increasing demand during the Covid times, the brand introduced a Whatsapp store to offer more convenient, smooth, and seamless experience.

Cleanroom processing for baby food

Timios has a production unit located in Hyderabad with a cleanroom processing facility for the baby food category. A cleanroom unit is used in pharmaceutical and scientific research that requires a controlled environment with limited exposure to contaminants. He explains, "Our recently launched 'Porridge Range' for babies and infants is 'Made to Order' and manufactured in a cleanroom processing unit. The cleanroom is designed to maintain a clean and sterile environment that filters dust, airborne organisms to provide the most hygienic food products."

Timios has in-house food technologists and nutritionists to ensure that the finest ingredients are used to design healthy and nutritious products for children. In addition, the brand partners with other sources to provide products that are thoroughly tested for nutritional facts as per the requirement for each age group. Chaitanya shares, "Our customers see the promise of convenience and healthy childhood, from as early as six months. Our packaging is appealing to little consumers, which makes it fun on the outside with goodness on the inside."

The brand has plans to launch a feature that offers complete traceability for the product from the supply of raw materials, manufacturing, dispatch till the product reaches the end consumer. "With 2020 being a challenging year, we have geared up for an eventful 2021. We want every parent to acquaint themselves with Timios by making the parenting journey easy. We will be launching new products for pregnant and lactating mothers while continuing to remain focused on babies, toddlers, and schoolers,” he concludes.
