In a significant milestone for India's value-added millet exports, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever sea shipment of 1 Metric Ton of Botanical-Infused Ready-to-Cook Millet Functional Foods from Karnataka to New Zealand on June 3, 2026.

The consignment was exported by M/s. Infini Agrotek LLP, Bengaluru, showcasing India's growing capabilities in millet innovation by combining traditional nutrient-rich millets with modern food processing technologies and botanical ingredients. The product range has been developed to cater to evolving global consumer preferences for healthy, convenient and functional foods.

The exporter successfully leveraged opportunities under APEDA's BHARATI (Business Harnessing and Rural Agricultural Trade Initiatives) Programme, a dedicated initiative aimed at supporting agri-startups and emerging exporters through market access facilitation, trade promotion activities, and participation in major domestic and international trade fairs. These interventions enabled the company to establish valuable global business linkages and expand its footprint in international markets.

The landmark shipment underscores the increasing global demand for innovative millet-based products and is expected to generate greater opportunities for millet-growing farmers by enhancing demand, promoting value addition, and improving market access. It further reflects India's commitment to advancing sustainable, nutritious and climate-resilient food systems through millet-led agricultural exports.

As India continues to strengthen its position as a global hub for millet production and innovation, APEDA remains committed to supporting exporters and promoting high-value agricultural products in international markets.
