In a significant milestone for Indian agri-exports, the Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Sundarja mangoes from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, have been exported for the first time to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

This maiden shipment marks a proud achievement in showcasing this unique and premium Indian mango variety on the global stage. Known for its distinct aroma, natural sweetness, and exceptional taste, the Sundarja mango holds a special place among India’s diverse mango varieties.

The export of GI-tagged Sundarja mangoes is expected to open new avenues for farmers and exporters from the region, enhancing the global visibility of India’s agricultural heritage and strengthening its position in international markets.

The successful export underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to promote GI-tagged agricultural products and support farmers in accessing high-value global markets.

The initiative not only highlights the quality and uniqueness of Indian mangoes but also reflects the growing global demand for Indian agricultural produce.

Geographical Indication (GI) tag

The Geographical Indication (GI) tag is granted to products that possess unique qualities, reputation, or characteristics specific to their geographical origin. The Sundarja mango from Rewa received the GI tag in recognition of its distinctive flavour and superior quality.
