Cosmo First, a leading Indian conglomerate with a strong presence across films, sheets & containers, pet care, consumer products and specialty chemicals, has marked its strong presence at PLASTINDIA 2026, being held from 5 to 10 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The company is participating as a Gold Sponsor and Lanyard Sponsor, underscoring its long-standing commitment to the Indian plastics and packaging industry.

PLASTINDIA 2026, one of the world’s largest plastic industry exhibitions, brings together global manufacturers, processors, technology providers and policymakers—making it a strategic platform for Cosmo First to showcase its innovation-led growth agenda.

Speaking on the sidelines of the exhibition, Mr Himanshu Gupta, Business Head, Cosmo Plastech, highlighted the significance of the event for the company and outlined the wide range of innovations being unveiled at the show.

“I would like to say that we are the Gold Sponsor for PLASTINDIA 2026 exhibition. As Cosmo First, all our group companies are participating across verticals,” said Mr Gupta. “From a plastics perspective, we are here with the launch of several new films and are also showcasing our specialty films, including ESD sheets, PET-PP sheets, GPET and PP Barrier films, along with our complete range of IML and thermoforming solutions.”

The company’s participation reflects its integrated approach—combining material science, advanced manufacturing and application-driven product development—to address evolving packaging needs across industries.

Focus on high-performance barrier and ESD films

One of the key highlights at Cosmo Plastech’s stand is its newly launched high-performance barrier sheets, engineered to significantly enhance product shelf life—particularly for food, dairy, ready-to-eat meals and premium FMCG packaging.

“Wherever customers require longer shelf life, barrier films and barrier trays become essential,” Mr Gupta explained. “Earlier, there was only one player in India producing barrier sheets. We are now the only other company producing barrier sheets in India, and have started manufacturing these in Aurangabad, to tap the growing demand in domestic market.”

These barrier solutions also help reduce food wastage, improve logistics efficiency and support brand owners in meeting evolving regulatory and quality standards.

In addition, Cosmo Plastech has introduced ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) sheets, catering to India’s rapidly expanding electronics and electrical packaging ecosystem.

“India is a very fast-growing market for electronics,” he said. “ESD sheets are critical to prevent static generation and protect sensitive electronic components. Earlier, these products were largely imported. With the government promoting electronics manufacturing in India, we now expect strong growth for these locally manufactured ESD sheets.”

The ESD portfolio is particularly aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and PLI initiatives, supporting domestic supply chains for electronics, automotive electronics and precision components.

Made-in-India manufacturing capabilities

Reinforcing Cosmo First’s commitment to domestic manufacturing, Mr Gupta confirmed that all newly launched products are manufactured in India.

“Cosmo First is an Indian company, and all these products are manufactured at our plants in Aurangabad and Gujarat,” he noted.

These facilities are equipped with advanced extrusion, coating and converting technologies, enabling consistent quality, scalability and faster go-to-market for customers.

The company primarily caters to thermoformers serving automotive, electronics, food packaging, consumer durables and industrial applications, depending on the performance requirements of the sheets.

Strong industry response at PLASTINDIA 2026

Sharing his experience from the exhibition’s opening day, Mr Gupta expressed satisfaction with the visitor response. “The first day was very good. We had strong walk-ins, met several new customers, and the visitor turnout matched our expectations. Overall, the response has been very encouraging.”

He added that Cosmo First has always maintained a strong association with PLASTINDIA.

“Wherever the plastics industry is involved, Cosmo First is always present. We have always been closely associated with PLASTINDIA, and since this is a mega show, participating as a major sponsor was a natural decision for us.”

Innovation, sustainability and industry trends

According to Mr Gupta, sustainability, recyclability and performance-driven packaging continue to dominate industry discussions.

“Most of the conversations today revolve around sustainability. We have already done a lot of innovation in films, but we also received valuable suggestions from customers during the show. We are about 90% there, and we will certainly work on further improvements based on this feedback.”

Cosmo First is actively focusing on mono-material structures, downgauging, improved recyclability and material efficiency to help brand owners meet sustainability goals without compromising performance.

He sees strong growth opportunities for plastics and rigid packaging.

“Plastics is a growing industry and will continue to grow. There are many applications that simply cannot survive without plastic packaging,” he said. “Rigid packaging, which was earlier unorganized, is now seeing the entry of organized players like us, and we are confident of exponential growth in the coming years.”

Highlighting a major shift in packaging preferences, he added, “Many products—especially sweets and snacks —are moving toward rigid packaging due to longer shelf life. This trend is fueling significant growth, and I believe it will accelerate even more.”

This shift is also being driven by improved consumer convenience, better product protection and premium shelf appeal offered by rigid and thermoformed packaging formats.

Invitation to industry stakeholders

Concluding the interaction, Mr Gupta extended an open invitation to visitors, “Please visit us and let’s make this entire show a great success.”

At Stand No. 14 (H3G), Cosmo First is showcasing its integrated portfolio of advanced packaging solutions, specialty films, rigid packaging and surface protection technologies, reinforcing its position as a key innovation-driven and future-ready player in the Indian plastics industry.
