Mettler-Toledo showcases advanced Product Inspection Technologies at Anuga FoodTec India 2025

Mandeep Kaur

At Anuga FoodTec India 2025, Mettler-Toledo India is spotlighting precision, compliance, and innovation with a display of its latest product inspection technologies. From high-performance checkweighers to advanced x-ray and metal detection systems, the global leader in precision instruments is showing how manufacturers can take full control of food quality and safety.

“We are excited to demonstrate how these technologies are built to reliably confirm precision weighing, detect physical contaminants, and complete quality assurance checks,” says Siddharth Kachroo, Head of Sales Product Inspection, Mettler-Toledo India. “By removing non-conforming products from the line, we assist manufacturers to achieve global food safety compliance, all while helping to reduce waste and improve efficiency.”

What’s on Display?

Mettler-Toledo’s booth (M65, Hall 4) is showcasing a range of inspection solutions designed to improve operational performance, protect brand reputation, and ensure regulatory compliance. The star attractions include:

  • C33 PlusLine Checkweigher

  • M31R Metal Detector

  • X12 X-ray Inspection System

“These systems are designed to help manufacturers confirm precision weighing, inspect for foreign body contaminants, and comply with stringent food safety requirements,” notes Kachroo. “Visitors will have the opportunity to experience their capabilities first-hand.”

C33 PlusLine Checkweigher: Fast, Accurate, and Hygienic

Aimed at dynamic production environments, the C33 PlusLine Checkweigher offers high-speed precision weighing with uncompromising accuracy.

“The C33 supports a wide range of line configurations and helps manufacturers manage portion control and reduce giveaway,” Kachroo explains. “Its hygienic design and user-friendly interface allow quick product changeovers and simplified cleaning — essential for fast-paced food manufacturing.”

M31R Metal Detector: A compact powerhouse for contaminant detection

The M31R Metal Detector delivers superior detection of ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless steel contaminants. It’s particularly suited for both dry and high-moisture food products.

“Advanced signal processing helps reduce false rejects and adapt to product variations without complex manual adjustment,” says Kachroo. “Its compact design makes it easy to integrate into existing production lines — a big plus for facilities looking to retrofit without major disruptions.”

X12 X-ray Inspection System: Multipurpose, high-sensitivity inspection

When it comes to comprehensive inspection capabilities, the X12 X-ray Inspection System stands out. It detects a wide range of physical contaminants, including glass, metal, stone, and even dense plastics, while also performing quality checks like:

  • Mass measurement

  • Fill level verification

  • Component counting

  • Detection of product trapped in the seal

“The X12 features our HiGain detector, which generates sharper images for outstanding contaminant detection,” shares Kachroo. “Its modular design and intuitive software support fast set-up, while built-in product integrity tools allow manufacturers to complete multiple checks, reducing waste and preventing costly recalls.”

Precision and consistency, 100% of the time

Mettler-Toledo’s checkweighers inspect 100% of products in real-time, a stark contrast to manual methods that may sample only 0.25% of output.

“Manual weighing of 15 packages out of 6,000 misses most issues,” says Kachroo. “In contrast, our systems catch and remove every non-conforming product before it leaves the line — ensuring weight accuracy and compliance.”

X-ray systems like the X12 go even further by confirming fill levels and component placement. “For example, it can verify whether each compartment in a ready meal tray contains the right amount, or that a tube of potato chips is properly stacked,” Kachroo adds.

Enabling compliance with global food Safety standards

With regulatory landscapes becoming increasingly complex, Mettler-Toledo’s systems help manufacturers meet both local and international safety standards.

“Inspection systems support compliance with rules set by industry bodies, governments, and retailers,” explains Kachroo. “They inspect each product in real time, reject non-conforming goods, and record inspection data for auditing and due diligence — which is critical in case of a recall.”

Kachroo highlights a timely example: the recent India–UK trade deal eliminating tariffs on Indian frozen shrimp. “This is a huge opportunity for Indian seafood exporters. But to tap into it, they must comply with UK food safety standards. That means identifying contamination risks via HACCP analysis and addressing them with metal or x-ray inspection. We help them every step of the way.”

Safeguarding brand reputation

In a competitive market, reputation is everything — and non-conforming products pose serious risks.

“Our technologies ensure only safe, compliant, correctly packaged products leave the facility,” says Kachroo. “That’s how we help brands build trust and avoid the fallout of recalls or customer complaints.”

Driving innovation for the Indian market

As the Indian food industry evolves, Mettler-Toledo is focused on digitalisation, smart systems, and operational efficiency. A major pillar of this strategy is ProdX™, the company’s advanced data management software.

“ProdX™ enables real-time monitoring, traceability, and efficiency,” says Kachroo. “By automating data collection and analysis, it reduces manual errors and provides actionable insights that drive productivity and reduce waste.”

With rising raw material and operational costs, digitalisation is more important than ever. “Our smart inspection systems are built to help manufacturers combat rising costs through efficiency and better decision-making,” he adds.

What’s Next? The future of product inspection

Looking ahead, Mettler-Toledo is continuing to develop combination systems — integrating checkweighing, metal detection, and x-ray inspection into a single platform.

“These systems address growing pressure to cut waste and boost productivity,” says Kachroo. “They reduce complexity, save space, and deliver a higher return on investment for manufacturers.”

An invitation to food manufacturers

As Mettler-Toledo connects with the industry at Anuga FoodTec India 2025, the message is clear: quality, safety, and compliance are non-negotiable — and achievable with the right tools.

“At Anuga FoodTec, we are showing how our product inspection systems help manufacturers take control of their product quality at every stage,” says Kachroo. “We are here to support food businesses in meeting global standards while improving operational performance.”
