NIFTEM-K and Thermo Fisher Scientific partner to strengthen India’s food safety and authenticity ecosystem

In a significant step towards advancing India’s food safety landscape, the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundli (NIFTEM-K), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thermo Fisher Scientific, a global leader in scientific solutions and technology.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Director, NIFTEM-K, and Abhishek Gupta, Director – CMD, Thermo Fisher Scientific India.

As part of this landmark collaboration, Thermo Fisher Scientific has provided NIFTEM-K with an advanced Gas Chromatograph system, free of cost. The system will be used for research, training, and demonstration purposes, supporting capacity-building efforts in the field of food safety and authenticity.

Key Highlights of the Partnership Include:

  • Joint development of India’s analytical science ecosystem

  • Establishment of a dedicated Centre of Excellence for Food Safety and Authenticity at NIFTEM-K

  • Collaborative research and development, including development of rapid testing kits

  • Hands-on training programs on method development and validation at NIFTEM-K and Thermo Fisher Scientific facilities

  • Internship and placement opportunities for NIFTEM-K students

Speaking on the occasion, officials emphasized that this collaboration will drive innovation, nurture scientific talent, and contribute significantly to India’s commitment to global food safety standards.

This partnership reflects a shared vision to enhance India’s food safety framework through cutting-edge technology, research excellence, and industry-academia collaboration.
