Brewers around the world are navigating a difficult landscape: stagnating beer volumes, high energy costs, and more, put pressure on profitability. It’s a demanding market where breweries are looking for solutions that help them do more with the resources they have.
Global biosolutions company Novonesis have long supported the brewing industry through the Termamyl biosolutions and is now introducing the next evolution in that journey, Termamyl Prime.
With this launch, Novonesis is moving toward solutions that can support higher brewing gravity, creating new opportunities for customers to increase capacity, improve profitability, and reduce energy use.
It reflects Novonesis’ commitment to developing more robust, thermostable enzymes that simplify brewing processes and drive operational efficiency.
“Termamyl Primeis a clear example of how customer needs are at the centre of our innovation. This innovation supports brewers in navigating a challenging market and reflects our commitment to staying close to customers, now and in the future,” says Philip Soederberg, Head of Business Unit Beverages.
New features that enhance brewing efficiency
Termamyl Prime introduces advanced features for customers in the liquefaction segment and for breweries working with high-gravity brewing.
An immediate performance lift
Liquefaction is the stage where heat and enzymes convert grain starch into fermentable sugars needed for yeast to create alcohol during fermentation. Termamyl Prime is designed to handle tough and climate-affected barley, helping brewers maintain consistent production. In practice, this means an immediate boost in day-to-day brewing performance.
Supporting high gravity brewing
As breweries seek ways to increase output without new equipment, high gravity brewing is becoming increasingly popular. The method allows brewers to produce a more concentrated beer base and dilute it to the final strength, essentially enabling more beer from the same setup, while making better use of energy and raw materials. However, high gravity brewing places greater demands on enzymes. Termamyl Prime is built to perform under these tougher conditions, helping breweries run higher-gravity processes.
