Scottish whisky company achieves 15% efficiency gain in three months with Lineview

FoodTechBiz Desk

Lineview, a leading provider of manufacturing optimization solutions, was awarded a contract to implement its software on two production lines for a major Scottish whisky producer. The software has already demonstrated its effectiveness, achieving a 15% improvement in line efficiency within the first three months of use.

The results were achieved through LineView’s system, utilizing real-time data analytics, to address production bottlenecks, reduce stoppages and unlock significant capacity across two high-volume lines. Through optimizations on one line, line speed by increased ~12%, while reducing stoppages that previously caused 22.41% of production time losses.

Lineview was initially brought in to offer consultancy services. Lineview’s experts worked on-site to train the production team, to ensure the production team have the skills to maintain these gains independently and make the most of their data.

The success of the consultancy project saw Lineview install their software, a manufacturing optimization solution, in June 2024 and the company has since committed to accelerate rollout across all other high-volume lines at the site.

Chris Spray, customer success director at Lineview, added, “This collaboration is a demonstration of how expert data interpretation can unlock hidden potential in manufacturing operations. Small but important changes in a line can result in significant savings, both operationally and financially. In this project, we have seen double figure improvements on each line, which when projected across the entire plant, will offer substantial improvements. To put that into figures, even 1% improvement could yield as much as £50,000 savings annually for this plant.

“Having access to real-time data is allowing business to unlock significant opportunities within their manufacturing lines, but when combined with consultancy to improve knowledge and understanding within the workforce, we can empower companies, particularly those in food and drink, who are plagued with environmental, sustainability and operational challenges, to address real, long-term losses within their operations.”
