Gunjan Vijay Jain
Gunjan Vijay Jain is the President of the Nuts and Dry Fruits Council (India) the country’s first pan-India trade body dedicated to advancing the role of dry fruits and nuts in the national nutrition and trade discourse.
Under his leadership, NDFC(I) has emerged as a unified platform representing the interests of growers, importers, processors, distributors and allied service providers working collectively to ensure that quality dry fruits and nuts are accessible to every Indian, not just during festivals but year-round. The Council has played an active role in addressing trade concerns, encouraging responsible sourcing, and driving awareness around the nutritional significance of dry fruits.
Gunjan is also the Managing Director of Nutraj (VKC Nuts). He has led from the front, catalysing the metamorphic transformation of the company from ‘bottom end’ to ‘front runner’ in the nuts and dried fruits trade today. He has relentlessly pursued his ambition with commensurate tilling, risk appetite, experimentation and continual out-of-the-box approach.
When the Indian nuts and dried fruit trade was limited to cashews, almonds, pistachios, raisins and walnuts with none prepared to risk beyond he sensed the vacuum and opportunity to be tapped. Introduction of a slew of exotic nuts and dried fruits sourced from varied origins followed in pursuit of his passion. The effort pushed the trade frontiers beyond and made a paradigm shift in the market space.
He is now widely reckoned as the ‘encyclopedia’ of India’s nuts and dried fruit trade, and is regularly invited to global forums to share his valued opinions and perspectives on the future of the sector.
At NDFC(I), Gunjan continues to shape a forward-looking agenda rooted in access, equity and sector-wide collaboration advancing the belief that nuts build strength, nutrition builds people, and a well-nourished population builds a stronger nation.
