Cosmo Plastech, a part of the Cosmo First Group, marked its presence at the World Mithai Namkeen Show (WMNS) 2025, held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, from 19 to 21 December 2025, showcasing its complete range of rigid packaging solutions customized for the food and beverage industry. The company used the platform to reinforce its growing focus on organized, high-quality rigid packaging solutions for biscuits, namkeen, confectionery, and allied segments.
Speaking on the sidelines of the exhibition, Mr Himanshu Gupta, Business Head, Cosmo Plastech, shared insights into the company’s journey, product portfolio, innovation roadmap, and expectations from the show.
From flexible to rigid packaging
Introducing the company, Mr. Gupta explained that Cosmo Plastech’s move into rigid packaging was a strategic extension of its long-standing expertise in flexible packaging. “We are part of Cosmo First and were already involved in flexible packaging, working closely with several leading brands. Since we had strong relationships and a deep understanding of packaging needs, we thought—why not also enter rigid packaging? That’s how this journey started,” he said.
According to Mr Gupta, one of the key factors that encouraged Cosmo to enter the rigid packaging space was the highly fragmented nature of the segment. “Around 90% of the rigid packaging sector is unorganized. Brands today want organized players who can deliver consistent quality and products. That gave us confidence that there was a strong opportunity for Cosmo in this space,” he added.
A 360-Degree rigid packaging model
Rather than entering isolated segments, Cosmo Plastech adopted a holistic approach to rigid packaging. “Rigid packaging broadly operates in three formats—IML (In-Mould Labeling), thermoforming, and sheet manufacturing. Instead of entering one vertical at a time, we decided to create a 360-degree model where we offer solutions across all these segments,” Mr Gupta explained.
Today, Cosmo Plastech manufactures multi-layer sheets is actively engaged in thermoforming. Its product portfolio includes PET sheets, PET-PE sheets, PP, barrier sheets, etc., catering to both food packaging and engineering applications.
Cosmo Plastech at WMNS 2025
Cosmo Plastech’s participation at the World Mithai Namkeen Show 2025 was driven by a clear market focus. “This is not our first exhibition. We have also participated in shows like the Ice Cream Expo earlier. At WMNS, our core target customers are present. Anyone packaging biscuits or namkeen needs rigid packaging,” Mr Gupta said.
He emphasized that the exhibition provided an ideal platform to build awareness around Cosmo’s expanded capabilities. “The objective was to showcase our entire rigid packaging portfolio and clearly communicate that Cosmo has entered this space with a complete range of solutions,” he added.
At the Cosmo Plastech booth, visitors were introduced to the company’s full product offering.
“We are showcasing our complete IML portfolio, thermoforming solutions, and sheet products. Essentially, our entire rigid packaging range is on display at this exhibition,” Mr Gupta noted.
Sharing initial feedback from the exhibition's first day, Mr Gupta said the response had been encouraging. “It’s too early to comment in detail, but the first couple of hours have been very good for us. We have seen strong footfall and meaningful customer interactions,” he said.
A key highlight drawing attention was Cosmo’s upcoming barrier sheet line.
“We are launching a new barrier sheet line, and customers are very keen to understand how and when we are introducing it. We’ve also received a lot of inquiries for the IML business, as brands are actively looking for better and more innovative packaging solutions,” Mr Gupta added.
He expressed optimism about sustained engagement over the remaining days of the show.
Quality, Trust, and Consistency
When asked about Cosmo’s key differentiators in the competitive food packaging landscape, Mr Gupta was clear.
“Cosmo stands for consistency. We have the best machinery available, and Cosmo is already a very established and trusted brand. If someone is looking for quality, trust, and consistency, Cosmo is the right choice,” he said.
Moreover, innovation remains a cornerstone of Cosmo First’s operations, with Cosmo Plastech benefiting directly from the group’s robust R&D ecosystem. “We have one of the largest R&D setups in the industry, with more than 20 doctorates and PhDs working with us. They support Cosmo First in developing new products and innovations,” Mr Gupta highlighted.
The R&D team plays a critical role in developing advanced sheet solutions, including new PET sheets, PET-PE sheets, and more, enabling Cosmo to expand and upgrade its offerings continuously.
What’s next for the food industry?
Cosmo Plastech is gearing up to further strengthen its value proposition for food manufacturers by expanding its innovation-led offerings. “We are planning to introduce additional product portfolios. One of the key developments is our barrier sheets, along with thermoforming capabilities for these barrier structures. Through this, we aim to provide end-to-end MAP solutions to the industry,” Mr Gupta revealed.
Highlighting the broader challenges facing the packaging sector, he pointed to two critical issues. “The dominance of the unorganized sector remains a major challenge, and customers today are extremely price-conscious,” he said. However, he underscored that quality must never be compromised in sensitive application areas.
“When it comes to food and pharma packaging, safety is paramount. Saving a few paise at the cost of consumer safety is simply not right. These are segments where no compromises should ever be made,” he emphasized.
With strong footfall, active inquiries, and growing interest in its upcoming innovations, Cosmo Plastech’s participation at the World Mithai Namkeen Show 2025 reinforced its position as a serious, organized player poised to redefine rigid packaging standards for India’s food industry.
