At ANUGA FoodTec India 2025, one of South Asia’s leading platforms for food and beverage processing technologies, Syntegon Technology India unveiled its strategic roadmap, technological strengths, and localized innovation initiatives under the leadership of its newly appointed Managing Director, Mr. Ashish Deshpande.
In an exclusive interaction at the event, Mr. Ashish discussed the company’s recent initiatives, the challenges of the Indian market, and Syntegon’s long-term outlook — particularly in the rapidly growing snack segment.
New leadership, renewed vision
“I took over this role in February this year,” Ashish shared. “Before that, I was Operations Director and Project Director. It’s been an enriching journey so far, with valuable customer interactions, wider exposure, and plenty of learning. I am very excited about the opportunities ahead for Syntegon in India.”
Showcasing innovation at ANUGA FoodTec India
At the exhibition, Syntegon presented two advanced packaging machines customized to India’s fast-growing snack and biscuit markets:
SVL 2310 Vertical Packaging Machine
Syntegon’s SVL 2310 vertical packaging machine bagger is engineered for the efficient handling of lightweight Low-density snacks, fragile snacks. Capable of producing up to 110 bags of Potato chips per minute — or and 220 bags per minute with the twin version (SVL 2310T) — it delivers unmatched speed and flexibility across formats, sizes, designs, and materials.
With the SVL 2310, manufacturers can respond quickly to changing market trends. Its low drop height minimizes breakage, while tool-less format changeover helps in quick change over time, a hygienic and open design provide access on all the three sides of the bagger for cleaning & maintenance, and an intuitive HMI make it highly operator-friendly. The twin version, SVL 2310T, combines double output of up to 220 bags per minute with a compact footprint, allowing multiple machines to operate within the same floor space.
“With their small footprint and scalable design, the SVL 2310 and SVL 2310T are ideal for manufacturers seeking high throughput without compromising product integrity,” said Mr. Ashish.
Pack 301 LS Horizontal Flow Wrapper
The second highlight at Syntegon’s booth was the Pack 301 LS horizontal flow wrapper (biscuit-on-edge), equipped with an automatic measuring loader (SDML). This advanced solution is designed to handle a variety of shapes and formats — including round, square, or rectangular biscuits and crackers — and delivers up to 250 packs per minute (duplex infeed) while ensuring gentle handling of delicate products.
The system is optimized for on-edge flow wraps, the most preferred market format.
“By combining increased output, maximum flexibility, and gentle yet efficient product handling, the Pack 301LS offers our customers a decisive competitive advantage,” said Mr. Ashish. “Our solution is particularly well-suited to the trend toward healthier offerings such as gluten-free, low-calorie, or high-fiber biscuits, which often have more delicate textures.”
To meet the growing demand for multipack and family pack formats, Syntegon also introduced the Pack 301 CS, a next-generation solution designed to address evolving consumer preferences in the biscuit and cracker segment.
Trends shaping India’s snack industry
Syntegon is aligning its solutions with evolving consumer preferences. According to Ashish,
“We are seeing a shift from chocolates and energy bars — traditionally premium products — to mass-market snacks such as potato chips and namkeens. This shift, driven by affordability and scale of consumption, is creating huge demand for vertical form-fill-seal machines capable of high speed and high productivity.”
Tackling industry challenges with precision
Developing high-speed machines for lightweight snack products presents unique challenges.
“Potato chips are extremely light, and the limiting factor is not the bagger but the weigher,” Mr. Ashish said. “Since these are gravity-fed systems, the drop time of the chips caps the speed. We are collaborating closely with our partners to engineer faster weighers that can overcome this bottleneck.”
He also pointed out the added complexity caused by varying potato types — from lightly salted to heavily fried chips — and the increasing demand for compact machines that require minimal human intervention, offer higher productivity, and deliver greater tonnage per day.
R&D and localization: Syntegon’s competitive edge
Mr. Ashish emphasized Syntegon’s strong engineering capabilities and local manufacturing focus:
“We are primarily an engineering-driven technology solution provider. Our machines are highly customized to meet specific requirements. By localizing our European technology and producing in India, we achieve an optimal price-to-performance ratio for the market.”
Local production and service also enables faster lead times and improved cost competitiveness without compromising quality. “That’s our biggest edge,” he added.
What Indian manufacturers gain from Syntegon
According to Ashish Deshpande, Indian manufacturers working with Syntegon gain access to:
State-of-the-art technology from a global leader
CE-certified machines meeting stringent safety standards
High-speed performance ensuring superior productivity
Exceptional reliability, with machines operating trouble-free for over two decades
“Our machines are designed to deliver efficiency with minimal wastage,” Mr. Ashish stressed. “Reliability is one of our strongest assets.”
Long-term vision and market strategy
Syntegon has recognized India and SAARC nations as key growth drivers. “We have launched an ‘India for India’ strategy, wherein the region will contribute significantly to Syntegon’s global growth,” Mr. Ashish said.
The company’s extensive packaging portfolio — covering primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions— allows Syntegon to provide complete, customized solutions. “Few companies can offer integrated systems from product pick-up to case packing,” Mr. Ashish noted. “When the market shows new requirements, we respond by developing new portfolios, such as automated case packing for snacks.”
Customer-centric sales and service model
Syntegon supports its customers through a nationwide sales and service network that extends beyond its Goa-Verna manufacturing facility. “Our sales team are solution providers, not just product sellers,” Mr. Ashish explained. “They visit sites, understand requirements, and customize solutions. We also have a strong after-sales network that ensure super quick support.”
Experience at ANUGA FoodTec India 2025
The exhibition served as a key platform for Syntegon to connect with customers and business partners.
“ANUGA is one of South Asia’s largest shows. It allows us to showcase our machines, understand customer needs, and build collaborations,” Mr. Ashish said. “The response has been excellent — visitors are eager to explore what our equipment can do.”
This was my second time at ANUGA, and the experience was exceptional. Our booth became a collaborative space where customers shared their needs, and we explored ways to deliver customized solutions.
Syntegon also connected with fellow exhibitors to explore potential partnerships. "As an end-to-end solution provider, we sometimes collaborate with other manufacturers to complete our portfolio,” Mr. Ashish added. “This event has opened exciting opportunities for win–win partnerships.”
He wrapped up the conversation with a clear message, “We deliver cutting-edge technology designed for optimized productivity, high efficiency, and minimal wastage. Our machines are highly reliable and built to last. A strong customer-centric mindset is at the core of our approach-We not only provide advanced technology but also back it with responsive service and long-term support to ensure our customer’s Success”
