In a significant boost to India's fresh fruit export sector, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has successfully facilitated the first export shipment of premium Areko Cherries and Scentrose Plums from the districts of Shopian and Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir to Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The landmark shipment marks the opening of new international market opportunities for fruit growers in the region and reinforces India's commitment to expanding the global footprint of its premium horticultural produce.

The initiative is expected to enhance market access for farmers by connecting them with high-value international markets, enabling them to secure better price realisation while showcasing the superior quality, freshness, and diversity of Indian fruits to global consumers.

The successful export also highlights APEDA's continued efforts to strengthen India's agricultural export ecosystem through market development, supply chain facilitation, and export promotion initiatives. By creating international market linkages for high-quality produce from Jammu & Kashmir, the authority is contributing to the growth of the country's horticulture exports and improving farmers' incomes.

This milestone underscores India's growing capabilities as a reliable supplier of premium fresh fruits in global markets and reflects the increasing international demand for high-quality horticultural produce from the country.
