Greater efficiency through intelligent integration of production and warehousing

FoodTechBiz Desk

Plzensky Prazdroj and System Logistics celebrated the successful commissioning of a new intralogistics solution at the brewery’s Pilsen site with an official grand opening ceremony. At the heart of the project is a state-of-the-art mezzanine system that intelligently connects production and warehousing operations, enabling a fully automated material flow between the filling lines and the high-bay warehouse.

The project marks the third major collaboration between the two companies, highlighting a long-standing and trusted partnership. Following the successful implementation of two high-bay warehouses, the exist-ing infrastructure has now been enhanced with an innovative mezzanine solution.

Efficient Integration of Production and Warehousing

As part of the project, a total of five filling lines were integrated into the system, including two lines with automated empty-container supply. The newly installed mezzanine serves as the central link between pro-duction and warehousing, ensuring a seamless and continuous material flow.

A total of eleven elevators manage the efficient transport of goods throughout the facility. Filled contain-ers are conveyed via the mezzanine to the monorail system and subsequently stored fully automatically in the high-bay warehouse.

In addition to the warehouse expansion, several further automation solutions were integrated into the overall process. These include an automated truck-loading system, a pallet exchange system and a state-of-the-art inspection system in the empty-container area. Together, these technologies enhance process reliability, reduce manual intervention and contribute to highly efficient plant operations.

Official Opening Ceremony in Pilsen

The significance of the project was highlighted during an official opening ceremony attended by numer-ous guests, project stakeholders and representatives of both companies, who gathered to celebrate the successful completion of this important milestone.

“This project is an excellent example of what can be achieved through strong partnership, mutual trust and technological expertise. Together, we have created a future-oriented solution that will sustainably strengthen the performance of the site,” said Bernhard Reitberger, Managing Director of System Logistics.

A Partnership Built for the Future

With the successful commissioning of the new installation, Plzensky Prazdroj continues to advance the automation of its intralogistics operations in Pilsen and creates additional capacity for future growth. At the same time, the project further reinforces the successful collaboration between the two companies, which have already completed several demanding automation projects together.
