Tetra Pak and Eskimo strengthen innovation in the Brazilian ice cream market

FoodTechBiz Desk

Tetra Pak, a world leader in food processing and packaging solutions, reinforces its commitment to the Brazilian ice cream market by offering equipment and solutions that assist in all stages of the production line of Eskimó Sorvetes, one of the largest popsicle producers in Brazil. The collaboration between the companies has contributed to expanding the ice cream manufacturer's production capacity and ensuring even greater efficiency, quality, and innovation.

The collaboration between Tetra Pak and Eskimó began in 2021, when the ice cream manufacturer acquired the first filling machines – whose high precision and distribution reduce product waste and line stoppages – and the first continuous freezer – which provides flexibility to handle a wide variety of recipes. In 2024, Eskimó also acquired the Tetra Pak RM35 A2 Rotary Ice Cream Machine, which has adaptable filling capabilities for the production of products ranging from basic to premium.

Currently, Eskimó's production relies on two units of this equipment: one for water-based popsicles and one for milk-based popsicles. These rotating popsicle machines are the first of their capacity and technological level in Latin America. One of these popsicle machines is connected to a Tetra Pak Ingredient Doser 3000 A3, which has the capacity to include ingredients up to 20mm, is fully automatic, and offers a very high level of standardization.

Reinforcing this partnership, in 2025 Eskimó also chose the Tetra Pak Robot Filler, a semi-automatic, collaborative unit for filling ice cream containers of various sizes. Designed to offer customization, flexibility, and precision to the production line, the Tetra Pak Robot Filler moves in three dimensions to provide differentiated and flexible filling of ice cream containers – from cones and small containers to those specifically for gelato – as well as providing a specific decorative filling pattern for each product.

Currently, with a daily production of one and a half million units, Eskimó can be considered one of the largest popsicle producers in the country. The ice cream manufacturer uses Tetra Pak equipment for various stages of its production: eight Tetra Pak Continuous Production Machines, which freeze the ice cream or sorbet and maintain stable and controlled production, delivering a quality product, and two Tetra Pak Ingredient Dispensers, which offer more precise dosing of the ingredients added to the ice cream and reduce initial waste by 67%, optimizing production efficiency.

“Today, virtually all of our production goes through at least one Tetra Pak machine. This integration allows us to achieve high volumes while maintaining the quality and consistency of our products. Having Tetra Pak's technology and support has been fundamental in consolidating Eskimó in the Brazilian ice cream market,” says Pedro Reis, founder of Eskimó.

In addition to the equipment, Eskimó also relies on Tetra Pak's Services solutions. For the efficient operation of the popsicle machines, Tetra Pak sticks are used, which, being polished, uniform, and free of splinters, reduce production downtime. Furthermore, the equipment is also insured by maintenance contracts offered by Tetra Pak, which provide specialized technical support and consulting to optimize processes and guarantee the quality of the products developed.

“For Tetra Pak, it is a source of pride to follow Eskimó's growth trajectory and contribute with solutions that support both increased production and product quality. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to offering know-how and strategic support so that our customers can innovate and meet the growing demands of the ice cream market,” comments Ana Paula Forti, Processing Director at Tetra Pak Brazil.
