At this year’s Fruit Logistica in Berlin, FAM STUMABO reaffirmed its position as a leading technology partner for fruit, vegetable, and potato processors worldwide. In an exclusive interaction, Tim Van Win, Sales Manager Benelux at FAM STUMABO, shared insights into the company’s expertise, innovations on display, evolving market trends, and strategic growth priorities following the global trade fair.

Engineering Precision: FAM STUMABO’s core expertise

“FAM STUMABO specialises in in-house engineering and assembly of high-capacity mechanical cutting equipment and the design and production of premium precision blades for food processing. Our unique combination of knowledge, technologies, and experience makes us the ideal partner to cut your product to perfection,” said Tim Van Win.

With nearly 80 years of combined experience in industrial cutting, the company blends global expertise with strong local market understanding. “We grow with our clients, supporting their productivity and profits. We believe in sharing our success with everyone – clients, partners, employees, and our ever-expanding community,” he added.

Strategic objectives at Fruit Logistica

FAM STUMABO’s primary objective at Fruit Logistica was clear: strengthen its position as a reference partner for fruit, vegetable, and potato processors by combining visibility, relationships, and innovation.

“The show allows us to reconnect with existing customers, engage with prospects, and align closely with partners, while having meaningful, face-to-face discussions with processors from Europe and beyond,” Van Win explained.

The event also served as a platform to present and launch cutting solutions tailored to this segment. By showcasing flagship machines alongside live demonstrations, 3D animations, and application-focused materials, FAM STUMABO made its advanced cutting technologies tangible—particularly for visitors from emerging markets less familiar with high-end automation solutions.

At the same time, the exhibition offered valuable insights into evolving industry trends, helping the company ensure its solutions remain aligned with real processing needs.

Cutting-edge machines on display

SureTec 240 with SureCut Unit

One of the highlights was the recently launched SureTec 240, featuring the innovative SureCut Unit (SCU).

“The SCU allows cutting components to be pre-assembled as a single piece and perfectly adjusted away from the machine. It allows even non-technically trained operators to quickly and easily change and install cutting tools on the machine. Processors enthusiastically adopted this new cutting concept,” Van Win noted.

This solution directly addresses labour shortages by simplifying changeovers and reducing dependency on highly skilled operators.

Yuran Capcitec Belt Cutter

FAM STUMABO also launched Yuran Capcitec, a high-capacity belt cutter designed for dicing and strip-cutting peppers and leafy vegetables.

Its 300 mm wide and 2-meter-long high-grip profiled feeding belt delivers at least 30% extra feeding capacity compared to previous models. The machine is engineered with durable components to minimize ownership costs, reduce labour needs, and limit downtime.

Dorphy: Compact Precision

The Dorphy dicer, a lower-capacity solution, is designed for uniform dicing, strip-cutting, and slicing of vegetables, fruits, and potatoes. It delivers precision cutting while reducing production time and product waste. Its clean-cut quality also helps extend product shelf life.

“These platforms reflect our broader strategy: delivering scalable cutting solutions that combine precision, reliability, and ease of operation across all capacity levels,” Van Win emphasized.

Emerging industry trends: smarter simplicity

While no single disruptive trend dominated the show, several consistent themes emerged. Labour availability remains a major challenge across Europe.

“Expectations toward cutting equipment are shifting: machines must be intuitive, repeatable, and less dependent on operator expertise,” Van Win said.

Ease of use has moved from convenience to necessity. Preset cutting tools and modular assemblies—like the SureCut Unit—enable fast, error-free changeovers and accurate cutting from the first production run.

Processors are also prioritizing reliability, uptime, and predictable performance across multiple shifts. “The trend is not about more complexity — it is about smarter simplicity,” he explained. “Cutting solutions must combine precision, automation, and operational ease to help processors run efficiently in a challenging labour and cost environment.”

Driving efficiency, yield, and consistency

FAM STUMABO’s solutions are designed to maximize output from the same raw material with minimal downtime.

“Vegetable processors operate under pressure. Harvest seasons are short, volumes are high, and every hour counts,” Van Win pointed out.

Stable infeed systems and precision cutting components ensure clean, accurate cuts, leading to higher yields, less scrap, and a more uniform product appearance. Robust construction supports continuous, heavy-duty operation during peak production periods, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across shifts and seasons.

“When products are cut exactly to specification, every time, processors see the impact immediately: higher yields, less scrap, and uniform product appearance,” he said.

Sustainability through performance

For FAM STUMABO, sustainability begins with operational efficiency.

“Sustainability at FAM STUMABO starts on the factory floor, not in a mission statement,” Van Win remarked.

Precision cutting ensures more raw material becomes a sellable product, reducing waste. High-efficiency motors optimize energy use, while hygienic open-machine designs shorten cleaning cycles. Durable components extend machine lifetimes, lowering spare part consumption and environmental impact.

“We help processors produce more food with fewer inputs—and do it consistently, day after day,” he added.

Outcomes and brand reinforcement

From Fruit Logistica, the company expected traction, insight, and validation. “We expected an event like Fruit Logistica to convert visibility into relevance, relevance into leads, and leads into lasting partnerships. We are happy with the outcome,” Van Win shared.

The exhibition delivered high-quality conversations, actionable market feedback, and reinforced FAM STUMABO’s global brand presence. Live demonstrations and face-to-face discussions helped build trust while differentiating the company from competitors.

FAM STUMABO is focusing on markets where automation, yield pressure, and scale intersect. Europe and North America remain key priorities, alongside selective expansion in rapidly industrializing regions.

Segments such as fresh-cut, frozen, and convenience-driven processing continue to offer strong growth potential. “Growth comes less from stand-alone machines and more from being a core technology partner within complete processing lines,” Van Win concluded.

By delivering tailored solutions, fostering long-term partnerships, and supporting sustainable, efficient production, FAM STUMABO aims to drive higher value per installation and strengthen its role as a trusted global partner in cutting technology.
