The Global Potato Summit (GPS) 2025, held from 11 to 13 December 2025, marked a defining moment for India’s potato ecosystem, bringing together policymakers, global experts, processors, exporters, researchers, technology providers, and farmers under one roof. Organised by Media Today, the Summit showcased India’s growing leadership across potato production, processing, value addition, mechanisation, storage, and global trade.
Hosted at India Expo Mart & Centre (IEML), Greater Noida, followed by large-scale live farm demonstrations in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, GPS 2025 successfully bridged policy, technology, industry, and on-ground farming practices—positioning itself as one of the most comprehensive and globally integrated potato events ever hosted in India.
Grand opening ceremony sets the tone for GPS 2025
The Grand Opening Ceremony of Global Potato Summit 2025 set a powerful and aspirational tone for the three-day event. The Summit was formally inaugurated by Shri Shyam Singh Rana, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of Haryana, in the presence of senior dignitaries including Dr. Sudhanshu (Member Secretary, APEDA), Mr. Sandip Thakkar (Managing Director, & Founder, S K Group), Ms. Vinita Sudhanshu (General Manager, APEDA) and esteemed international delegates.
Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the potato sector in India’s agri-export ambitions and rural economic growth. The ceremony was attended by leading policymakers, global potato experts, representatives from ICAR–CPRI, NHRDF, major processors, cold-chain companies, agri-tech innovators, and solution providers.
With participation from 600+ industry leaders, 200+ exhibitors, and delegates from 15+ countries, GPS 2025 began with a shared vision—to build a more innovative, resilient, and globally competitive potato value chain for India.

As India strengthens its position as one of the world’s 2nd largest potato producers, GPS 2025 emerged as a strategic platform to unlock the next phase of growth—focused on seed innovation, processing technologies, modern storage, export readiness, mechanisation, and sustainability.
Through curated exhibitions, business networking, and thought leadership sessions, the Summit highlighted how India can move beyond volume-led production to become a global hub for high-quality, value-added potato products.

The Summit was held under the esteemed chairmanship of Mr. Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA and Chairman, Honorary Advisory Board, Global Potato Summit 2025. Indian Potato Industry Excellence Awards: Celebrating leadership, innovation and impact
A special attraction of the day 1 of the conference was Indian Potato Excellence Award recognizing outstanding individuals, companies and technologies that are shaping the future of India’s potato value chain—from seed to processing, exports, mechanisation and community development. The award ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Jung Bahadur Sangha (Sangha Farm), Mr. Abhigyan Prakash (NDTV), and Ms. Vineeta Sudhanshu (APEDA), adding distinction to the occasion and underscoring the industry’s collective commitment to recognising farmer-led excellence.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Mr. Sachidanand Madan, Convener, Global Potato Summit and former Advisor at ITC Limited, honoring his decades-long contribution to policy, industry integration and institutional leadership in the potato sector.
Excellence in seed development was highlighted with the Potato Seed Industry Excellence Award and Community Impact & Rural Development Award presented to Technico Agri Sciences Ltd., acknowledging its leadership in quality seed systems and farmer-centric development. Women in Potato Seed Excellence Award went to Dr. Indira Laxman Dhume of Mahindra HZPC for her role in advancing organised seed production.
In processing, Balaji Wafers received the Chips Industry Leadership Award, while Iscon Balaji Foods Pvt. Ltd. was recognised with the Frozen Potato Products Leadership Award. HyFun Foods Pvt. Ltd. earned the Frozen Potato Products Export Pioneer Award, underscoring India’s growing global footprint in frozen potato exports. Crown Flakes Pvt. Ltd., led by Ms. Avanti Murarka, was honoured as the Flakes Industry Pioneer.
Export excellence was recognised through awards to M S International Pvt. Ltd. and S K Group for their leadership and pioneering efforts in fresh potato exports.
Innovation across varieties and technology was celebrated with awards to Meijer Potato (Lady Rosetta), CPRI (Kufri Jyoti), STET Holland (Santana), HyFarm, Shaktiman GRIMME, and Survir Agritech, reflecting advances in varieties, mechanisation and cultivation practices.
The awards concluded by honouring grassroots excellence, with Mr. Jitesh Patel of Gujarat named Potato Farmer of the Year, and GreenFay Farm Foods receiving the Farm-to-Fork Excellence Award, reinforcing the sector’s inclusive and future-ready growth trajectory.
Potato Farmer Excellence Awards steal the spotlight on day two
The second day of the Conference featured a special and inspiring attraction—the Potato Farmer Excellence Awards, celebrating the vital role of progressive farmers in strengthening India’s potato value chain. The awards were presented to outstanding farmers nominated by reputed Indian potato industry players, recognising excellence in productivity, quality adoption, innovation and sustainable farming practices.
The Potato Farmer Excellence Awards were conferred upon Shilpa Ben Dilip Bhai Patel, Rakesh Bhai Patel, Mr. Tanuj Pant, Harjinder Sandhu, Bhavjit Singh, Arvinder Singh, Sukhvinder Singh, Ashok Patidar, Ashok Bhai Lakhu Bhai Patel, P. Singh Khosa, and Krishna pandit. Potato Agronomy Excellence Award was conferred to Mr. Tanuj Pant from Technico Agri Sciences Pvt. Ltd.
The ceremony highlighted the strong collaboration between farmers and industry, showcasing how on-ground innovation, improved seed adoption, mechanisation and best agronomic practices are driving higher yields and better market integration. The recognition served as a powerful reminder that farmers remain at the heart of India’s growing and globally competitive potato ecosystem.
From Field to Future: Live farm demonstrations
The final phase of GPS 2025, held on December 12–13, shifted the focus from conference halls to the fields with large-scale live farm demonstrations at Upeda Village, Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, in association with Agristo.
These demonstrations transformed the fields into live learning hubs, offering farmers hands-on exposure to advanced seed varieties, smart irrigation systems, high-efficiency fertilizers, and state-of-the-art farm machinery under real-world conditions. Farmers, industry experts, and partner companies engaged in meaningful interactions, peer learning, and practical problem-solving.
By showcasing clear, evidence-based improvements in yield, quality, and profitability, the demonstrations ensured that global innovations translated into measurable on-ground impact—empowering farmers to confidently adopt modern, sustainable practices.
