FSSAI to not permit license modification beyond 1 January 2022

Extension of period for modification of license by existing FSSAI licensed manufacturers without modification fee

In an order dated 16 June 2021, FSSAI decided to give one more opportunity for modification of license by existing FSSAI licensed manufacturers without modification fee until 31 October 2021.

The FFSAI’s order further states, “Such FSSAI licensed manufacturers who do not modify license by October 31, 2021, shall be permitted to apply for modification of their licenses ‘with fee’ until December 31, 2021. Thereafter, no modification of the license would be permitted with effect from 1 January 2022.”

“The FSSAI licensed manufacturers shall not be permitted to apply for renewal of their license with effect from 1 January 2022, in case of non-compliance with this order.”

On 28 May 2020, FSSAI had issued an order regarding modification of licenses by existing licensed manufacturers until 31 December 2020 without modification fee. Consequent to the approval of the food authority in its meeting held on 20 October 2020, the period for modification of licenses by existing licensed manufacturers was extended till 30 June 2021 without a modification fee.
