Gulab Maa, as everyone lovingly calls her today, started by providing crafted syrups, khakhras, and pickles to family and relatives. Soon this grew into a passion for serving many families like hers, craving the same taste. For decades, she single-handedly ran a home-based business, serving many.

A larger structured setup was put in place in 2015 and was firmly grounded with the core values of Gulab Maa - quality, consistency, and rooted to the flavors of home. From the quality of the raw materials sourced to the consistency of the end product, Gulab Maa treats them like her third child and checks every batch of syrup, khakhra, masala, or pickle that leaves the Gulabs factory.

Chennai-based food and beverage maker Gulabs is now a fraternity of 30+ people working relentlessly under the guidance of Gulab Maa, who continue to experiment with creating snacks and syrups with minimal or no artificial colors or synthetic essence.

Adding to the rich and crafted flavors is an equally rich packaging. At Gulabs, it's a conscious effort to keep the use of plastic at bay and provide these delectable delicacies in an earthy packaging.

Talking about the products, Ruchika Gupta, business head, Gulabs shares, about the wide range the company offers, "Our existing range of products includes: mini khakhras, big khakhras, mini syrups, big syrups, masalas, pickles, instant upma, poha, ready-to-eat seeds mix, trail mix, and instant beverage powders. We plan on launching more flavors in pickles, masalas, and instant powders soon."

Considering the recent disruptions and trends company believes that the food and beverage industry is sure to move towards a few different trends, such as gluten-free, vegan, and plant-based products. At the same time, some would stay focused on a few traditional ingredients like kokum, lemon, jackfruit, and many more.
