Givaudan has joined Together for Sustainability (TfS), a global sector supply chain initiative. Givaudan enters the organization’s 30 existing members, who include BASF, Henkel, and Sanofi.

TfS, which was founded in 2011, delivers a global program to assess, audit, and improve supply chain sustainability practices. It is based on the UN Global Compact and Responsible Care principles.

The program allows member companies to assess the environmental, labor, and human rights, ethical and sustainable procurement performance of their suppliers, gathering insights that drive and deliver measurable improvements of their suppliers’ as well as their sustainability performance.

TfS works in close partnership with EcoVadis to carry out its assessments. To be eligible for membership, an organization must have a minimum EcoVadis score of 60/100. In its 2020 rating, Givaudan scored 75/100, putting it into the platinum category, EcoVadis’ highest accolade.

Givaudan’s membership of TfS follows the launch of its new Sourcing4Good program, introduced in April 2021. The program is closely tied to the company’s purpose goal to source all ingredients and materials to protect people and the planet by 2030. It applies to all Givaudan’s suppliers and its full portfolio, including naturals, synthetics, and indirect materials and services (IM&S).

Willem Mutsaerts, Global head of Procurement and Sustainability, says, “We’re proud to join the TfS community. Collaboration is essential in delivering on our bold ambitions, and transparent dialogue with our suppliers is vital to ensuring the long-term sustainability of our supply chain. As we take the next step in our responsible sourcing journey with the launch of our new Sourcing4Good program, the additional knowledge and insight our TfS membership will bring will be invaluable in helping ensure we can continue to accelerate our progress as we grow together with our customers and suppliers.”

Bertrand Conquéret, president of Global Supply Chain and Corporate senior vice president Purchasing Henkel, President Together for Sustainability, comments, “We’re delighted to welcome Givaudan as 31st member of Together for Sustainability. The arrival of Givaudan enhances TfS’ capability to assess and improve the sustainability performance of the procurement operations and supply chains of chemical producers.”

“TfS is this network of chemical business leaders and professionals driving the de facto global standard for environmental, social, and governance performance of chemical supply. Together we foster sustainable and resilient supply chains with fair working conditions, climate change mitigation, and environmental protection. Sustainable supply chains rely upon strong partnerships and the commitment of all participants. We look forward to collaborating with Givaudan as part of our community.”
